Hello everyone,
Boy am I glad I found this group. My son was just diagnosed with autism on April 10, 2008 and I am now in the process of trying to find him any and all the help that I can give him. I live in Fl and this whole autism thing is new to me. What should I start doing first and what kind of programs are out there? Thank you so much. I feel this group is going to be a great asset to me.

Hi-If you go to the Unlocking Autism website, you can get their hotline number and call Nancy Cale. She will direct you to representatives in your area that can hold your hand through the process. It is important to have good supports....http://www.unlockingautism.org/

First take a DEEP breath, try relaxing(although that is probably the farthest thing from your mind set right now!!!), try not to get a REALLY big headache from all the info you are about to receive and try to process in a short amount of time, use this internet as the best info tool you can, keep your comunication skill ready and be willing to talk, it will help you out greatly. KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I would have to say that you have already found one of the most useful things in this site right here that you could ever use.
