The School District Must Find an Appropriate Program for Your Child or Create One. Once your child qualifies for special education, the process becomes a lot more complicated. There are many different possible educational programs that can be provided to a child with autism. You need to become knowledgeable about what placement and services are the most appropriate for your child. Although the school will make recommendations, and those recommendations may be appropriate for your child, you need to determine on your own whether the program is truly appropriate.
