So this is for the nwhole group, the veterans ho can or could quote case law.. and those of us not so solid on what they( school) must provide.. and of course for all the psych students:))) We are in a new school district, our sons disability was slashed and we had to bail on the last month of our lease... long story short all of our children nwill be in a new shcool. Up until now we were doing really well inr eagrds to special ed teacvhers and placements. Our oldst was outsourced to a school that was like and extension of family, our second oldest had a special ed teacher that sets the bar:)) A fabulous teacher with a heart for kids.. now we are at figurative square one in a title one district demographically a step downwhich I shall guess emnas that funding for the boys being outsourced is right up there with the existence of purple zebras that sing my favorite songs form Glee.. non existent. In the last several eyars I have bene a a very peaceful lull of not ahving to fight tooth and nail with the school. At it's worst point we did 6 IEPS for two boys each in one year.. and , my health took a nasty hit. Next eyar mostliekly we will homeschool our oldest, but.. it all depends on what the new district can offer. My IEp skills have become dull.. anything, any jog of my memory re thigns like LRE, IDEA, and NCLB would be helpful things have changed quite a bit. thank you for your repsonses!! Coffeemom

Edit Hi! I'm a student at university in the northeastern party of the United States. I am participating in an autism course and I would like to know if there is a family (or an individual) interested in sharing their lives (or life) with Autism with me for a semester (until about the end of April.) I would really appriciate learning about Autism in a way that a classroom could never teach me. Thanks for your time!

Hi Everyone! I am a university student from the northeast and currently enrolled in an Autism class. In order to gain a better understanding of autism, we were assigned a project in which we would "adopt a family" who has a child with autism. It would generally involve a once a week interaction on this blog between myself and the family, where I would ask questions or talk about topics related to what we discuss in class in order to get a first-hand perspective on someone directly affected by autism. This would last until about the end of April and everything will be kept confidential. If there is a family that would be interested in sharing their experiences with me for the semester, please feel free to contact me on this blog, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Hello everybody I'm a student of a Northeastern University. I am taking an autism class. In this class I have to in a sense "adopt" a family that has a child with Autism. The purpose of this type of work is for me to learn what a family goes through and what his/her/their child has brought the best out of them and to learn through the family's experiences. We are supposed to blog back and forth and learn how families are affected emotionally, physically, financially, and anything else the family would like to talk about. The blogging goes until end of April. I am willing to learn and hear how autism is changing the family's life. Through this experience I am hoping to make myself more wise and help others in the world. Anyone who is interested I would gladly appreciate it. It will be confidential. Thank YOU!!!

Hey All! I was given this website for a class I am taking on Autism and as a project we are to "adopt" a family/families virtually and keep a blog about how Autism has affected the lives of those who it affects. So I am asking if there are any families who would welcome me into their home "virtually" so That you can teach me/tell me about your stories with Autism. This requires only blogging! I really hope to find a family because this seems like an awesome opportunity to explore Autism in a new way!!!!! Thanks
My youngest son, Chris was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism when he was three (he is now six). I have been struggling with finding help and treatments, (and raising him along with my oldest son, Jonathan, who is nine) since i found out his disability. For awhile, it was developmental delay. I have no idea what caused it, I guess not many parents with children like mine do know. It feels good to know that Im not the only parent out there struggling with helping my child. Most of the time, i feel all along trying to help him with the weight of the world on my shoulders. He has been like this since birth, seen some improvements over time but not alot. Considering his disablity, he is extremely affectionate. He is practically nonverbal. I might hear a word here and there, like "that", "mine", and one of his favorites--"Eat" which comes out like "EAT" when he says it. Yea, he loves to eat, lol.
