Re: my aspie nineteenyear old

Hi there,

I found that buying those Axe body sprays works and also if he has a sister or female cousin that could bring up the conversation of how nice it is when a boy smells nice smile that worked for my son.

Re: my aspie nineteenyear old

Is your 19 yr old sensitive to scents and their intensity?
My 16 yr old Aspie is very particular about the 'scent' of his deodorant, shampoo, etc.
Before we try ANYTHING new, he has to 'test smell' it first.
Maybe get a few different body sprays and let him/her choose which one they prefer?

Re: my aspie nineteenyear old

My boys really like the scent of Old Spice Aquareef.  They have tried the axe sprays and deodorants too but prefer the old spice one.  When my boys shower we just do a verbal checklist hair, teeth, and deodorant!!!  These are the three biggies plus of course getting dressed lol!!!

Re: my aspie nineteenyear old

I have to remind them to shower and pit pit (deoderant) I do have like little bins for each with their name on it, toothbrush, comb, deoderant ect. in each so they know what they need to do each day. But my middle son who is a zombie in the mornings rushes out and I'm lucky he brushed his teeth once. Sometimes it feels like a typical teen thing and other times an Autism thing.
But I do have each deoderant they prefer, body wash in the shower and old spice spray in their bins....I just keep pushin' it!

Re: my aspie nineteenyear old

I make sure I have body wash in the shower for them. They seem to use it better than soap. I also have deodorant and spray....but I have to keep on them and remind them and remind them....and sometimes even then.....ugh!!!
I have little trays in the bathroom with everything they should be doing daily, toothpaste, toothbrush, body spray and deoderant as well as a comb if they so choose... and now we're into the zit creams too...it never ends!!!

Re: my aspie nineteenyear old

I'm very sensitive to scents, and simply tried to keep myself showered and used wet wipes on my pits whenever I'd been sweating. Then someone suggested crystal antiperspirant. NO scent at all. I love it. And one roll on lasts practically forever.

But we're starting to run into the same issue with my 10 year old ADHD granddaughter who takes a TaeKwanDo class every evening and really needs to shower afterwards. Her biggest issue is not washing her hair very well in the shower.
