This months issue of Cookie magazine had an article featuring Amanda Peet and her daughter Frances. The article states that she was worried about vaccinating until she spoke with Dr. Paul Offit... Quote "Once we had spoken, I was shocked at the amount of misinformation floating around, particularly in Hollywood". "But now that I have done my research, vaccines do not concern me." What does concern her is the growing number of unvaccinated children who are benefiting from the "shield" created by the inoculated-we are protected from viruses only if everyone, or most everyone, is immunized: "Frankly, I feel that parents who don't vaccinate their children are parasites."
I am sorry Amanda but speaking to a pro vaccine doctor and vaccine creator does not equal research. Also there is no such thing as herd immunity. I can't believe you call parents who don't vaccinate parasites! Your daughter is only 18 months old, I pray for your sake she does not regress into Autism from toxic encephalopathy caused from vaccines or you will never forgive yourself. My child was vaccinated but will not get any more. I will tell people my opinion but I believe vaccination is a very personal decision and everyone has a right to vaccinate or not. I am just really disappointed with Amanda's statement of judgement. I just wish all people could have complete informed consent when getting vaccines so they could make a decision that is best for their family.
On another note, as for the questions going around asking "Which diseases do you want your child to get?". STUPID QUESTION but I will answer just the same. No one wants their child to have any. Yes some vaccines (Polio) are needed and save lives but I would much rather have my child catch the measles or chicken pox which are usually not life threatening and go away in a short time than to have Autism for the rest of his life and possibly other serious disease such as Multiple Sclerosis or Cancer. In the case of Gardasil I would rather take my chances with God or nature and chance getting cervical cancer from a strain of HPV than to risk the dangerous even life threatening side effects from the vaccine at a very young age. I would rather catch the flu than acquire Alzheimer's. I could go on but I will stop now.

All I can Say it Wow! I remember thinking the same thing....Before, my youngest son was given the Mmr vaccine and had a visible reaction to it...and then later dxed with autism. Now I can see how niave, I truly was...and most parents are...until lightening strikes.
I whole heartedly agree with the last paragraph! Well said!

I know I was niave as well and believed my doctor, I didn't believe vaccines caused Autism (I believe it plays a role), But I also did not condemn those who chose not to vaccinate. I will never forgive myself for not doing more research before allowing them to poison my child. It just breaks my heart that the vaccine community, that I was once a part of, has such contempt for non vaccinators and it is going to get worse before it gets better. I just wish people didn't have to learn the hard way like many of us and would just listen to what we have to say.

I was once also stupid but now I know better. Too bad I had to find out the hard way. She really has not been an experienced parent enough to say what everyone needs anyway. Being famous does not equal being more informed or informed at all. Someone needs to call Jenny McCarthy to go to her mansion and tell her what for.
