It is sickening to think someone would do that to Any child let alone a child with special needs.

What happened?!

You can send a card to Alex to let him know he is special. He has really been hurt by this emotionally. When his mom drives his older sister to school, Alex screams that he can't go into the school. This story just makes me sick.

I got an e-mail about it from the GEAR parent network with all the e-mail addresses from the school system and I sent them all a message stating exactly how wrong that whole incident was. It really got to me and I can't imagine the hurt and permanent damage to Alex. He will probably never want to set foot in a school again!!!

Frankly, I'm not surprised it happened in FL.  We are in FL and my son was consistently "punished" for his autism in his old school.  He has terrible auditory processing -- the teacher let him go outside all day for a field day without water or sunscreen or a hat ( which were in his backpack) because he "didn't listen" when she told all the kids to get their stuff out of their backpacks.  She said his sunburn and dehydration was his consequence for not paying attention.

I almost sued someone.  We left the school instead.

When I heard about this I was so ticked off, I had to go for a long walk and calm down before I talked to anyone about it.  If this happened to my child I would start a vote process of the children and parents of that school to give detention to every one of those students for the next year and a vote to remove that teacher from the school system.  Not a transfer to an admin desk, but termination from employment.  I would argue that if her vote process was upheld, mine should be too.  Then the legal suit against that teacher would be started.  Let's just say I do not feel anything could be done until my son saw and felt  a sense of justice over the matter.  I'll admit right now, the level of justice I would want could probably be equated to revenge.  For that teacher to just be unemployable in any school system and each of the administrators who supported her by allowing her to transfer would have to use their salaries to pay for my son's private schooling and therapy.  I know unrealistic and would probably never get it, but that is the level of my anger over this situation, I better quit typing until my blood ceases boiling over this incident.
