Hi-
We started Wynn back on the MB12 shots a few weeks ago. We gave them to him a few years ago when we were seeing Dr. Neubrander in NJ. He responded well to them and seemed to make a lot of social gains: more interested in his sister, asking lots of relevent questions, gaining and using new vocabulary etc....Anyway, we had to stop them for some other complicated reasons and are just now getting them back on board. This time around, it seems that he has become very sensitive to sounds all of a sudden. Not that he is frightened by sounds, but that there are certain sounds that bother him now and cause him to cover his ears and leave the room (like sliding chairs across the tile floor, or dishes being placed on the counter). Anyone experience sound sensitivity? If so, how long did it last?
Thanks!

YES! We have the same issues. My son has never liked loud noises but since the B12 he is covering his ears a great deal and not just to noise also as an avoidance. I mentioned it to his OT and she just explained it away that when they make progress in one area sometimes they become more sensitive in others. It has been going on for months and doesn't appear to be getting any better. But the gains are worth it.

I think because it makes them more alert, they notice more. I've experienced the same

Striving that makes total sense. When he first started the B12 I said it was like he could see the forrest for the tree and was so much more aware of things. Speaking of he did great the first few months but lately he starts screaming and tensing up before the shot and the fluid does not want to go in. We use the numbing cream first and he didn't seem to feel it but now he does. I am wondering if the cream has stopped working or if something is wrong with this batch of needles.

I seem to remember my doctor telling me that sometimes the compounding pharmacy doesn't mix the MB!2 combination well enough--right ratio or whatever, and that if you notice the shots are causing pain, you may need a new batch of injections...Also, I think I remember some parents saying that the shots can hurt if they are too cold---so let sit out of fridge for a bit before giving them...Worth having a talk with your doc or the pharmacy about this...

Thanks Shannon. I do set it out 30 mins. before so that isn't the issue. I will call and check on it tom.
