siblings on foggyrock

Hi,

WOW I am happy to see more and more siblings joining in at foggyrock.  I feel this will be a great way for them to express their feelings.

Re: siblings on foggyrock

Hi!  My 6 year old daughter could really use a chance to connect with other siblings and have her own special place to communicate.  She has many anxieties and fears which are directly connected to years of a roller coaster relationship with her older brother.  Does anyone have an under 10 sibling who already participates in this site or would like to?  Thanks, lisadianne

Re: siblings on foggyrock

I have a 9 year old daughter who would probably be willing to participate in this site. She has a 10 year old brother with autism. I often hear so much about how so many siblings are so good and so supportive of their autistic sibling and although my daughter is, especially out in public and at school, at home it can often be a different story. A lot of his obsessions can cause her to get upset because she wants him to play with her and she still has difficulty understanding why he does not even though we have tried to explain it to her for years now. Every once in a while we can break him away and get him to engage in play but overall his play is pretty one note. Anyhow, she is not all that understanding of his disability all the time. I've tried to hook her up with sibling support groups for disabilities but frankly we don't have any in our area except for a few stray workshops a year. Anyone who might be willing to help her would be appreciated.  Thanks, Julie
