Strangely enough my NT daughter not my son is on a gluten free diet for her fibromyalgia and IBS.
She has tried a few gluten free breads including some I baked myself and absolutey hated them all.
They all tend to have the consistancy of pound cake which doesn't make for a terrific tasting bread.
We have a terrific gluten free pasta we eat all of the time and a pizza dough so where can you find bread (that you can buy by the loaft) that tastes like real bread, BUT that won't cost me as much as it take to fill up my car?

I recently bought "Our Favorite White Bread" from (I believe) Gluten Free Pantry. It is a mix and I did it in the oven. It was the first bread that tasted like real bread! Their chocolate cake mix is really good too. My kids eat the cupcakes without any icing and are still happy!

"Against the Grain" breads work for us, expensive I think I paid 7.99 for 4 rolls, but my bread loving son, now gluten free, loved them.

I found one that you can frequently even find in the Shaw's most of the time Bob's Red Mill Wonderful Gluten Free Bread mix. Yes, the word wonderful is in the title and it is a mix - so she has to be willing to bake. For the oil I use melted coconut oil and it's just like yummy homemade bread.
I have yet to find a store bought bread that i like - or my son likes. I will sometimes use the rice bread in the freezer section - but it has the consistenty of pound cake - ugh.
If it's a forever type of a diet change for her, and she likes bread - she may want to think about finding a good mix to make her own....i know - 20 year olds don't like to bake. I can whip it together in 7 minutes - 20 minutes to rise - 60 minutes to bake. Actually, now that I say it out loud - I can't imagine doing that much work when I was younger. Maybe she should just find good gluten free wraps (totillas). Let us know if she finds anything good.

We get gluten free bread from www.grindstonebakery.com. It's quite tasty and dense enough to be worth the cost (one or two slices fill you up). I buy them in lots of 4 so the shipping is free. They freeze well too. Normally I slice it up, put it on a baking pan, sprinkle a little water on it and heat for about 15 minutes. Then we put coconut oil and Lakanto (body ecology's sweetener) on top. MMMMMM MMMMM GOOD! ![]()
