Newbie from Missouri
Hello, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sandra and I have a son who is turning 6 in Aug. I am married to my husband of 16 yrs Larry. Avery was just dx in October after being on a waiting list for a year to get into the dr although we kindof already knew. He was also dx with ADHD and possibly MR. I think when the dr's told us they thought he may be MR that hurt more than the Austism. We are about to take him to a DAN dr in hopes to aleviate some issues we have noticed. I don't think Avery was vaccine injured but I am considering not getting his last vaccines before Kindergarten. (I am hoping the DAN dr who is also an allergist and immunist will sign off on him getting them or tell me he thinks it is ok. Anyways, I can go on and on but I will stop for now. I hope to get to know all of you soon.

Hello, Sandra. There are so many of us who have gone through the many steps of the beginning diagnosis, beginning treatment and then continuing on with the necessary adjustments, difficulties, set backs, and successes! I think that you'll find that this is a very informational and supportive site. (I understand what you mean about the "hurt" the diagnosis brought you. We went expecting an "Asperger's" diagnosis and we were startled when our son received a full Autistic Disorder diagnosis with multiple emotional handicaps. It took us awhile to truly accept--my husband still struggles daily with his denial and it has been over 7 years now) Take care-lisadianne2

Hi. Welcome. So sorry for your news. I just moved from there a year and a half ago. I lived in St. Louis area in St.Charles county. I have some contacts from there if you are from the area. Please feel free to write. My daughter was just officially daignosed last winter but my son was a couple of years ago.
