HI

Im NEW to all this here but surely not to autism..I have a son who is autistic he is 16 he does have severe autistic behaviors we work on he's come a long long way..truly he has worked so hard and for so long but he now WRITES and READS he has always LOVED books..always now he READS ..and Im just amazed overwhelmed. HE has his meltdowns sometimes but NOT near as much as he did at one time. THere was a time he could not take any VOLUME Or PITCH example if someone were to speak normally in a high pitched voice he could not have handled it ..there was hardly a line between what he could take and what he could NOT..what would set him off and what wouldnt.. NOW hes so much closer to the 'normal' its amazing. IN all this I have often wondered just WHO decided what is normal?? is is just what everyone else does?? or what?? HE has more imagination than even I can believe at times..he does these plays putting socks on his hands TWO characters two different voices..its amazing..I just wonder..hes definitely a hero in my book..and I believe to GOD KNOWS how many other people..cashiers at the stores LOVE him..he has reached out to people shopping that look like zombies going through the motions looking truly LOST but if they respond those thirty seconds or so they walk away RESSURRECTED..truly come to life..so who knows?? some thoughts here..

Re: HI

Hi, welcome to Foggyrock. Our children never cease to amaze me! My son is almost 4, he loves putting white socks on his hands and pretending they are polar bears, lol. We are also having issues with sounds and noise. He seems to like having cotton balls in his ears but not the soft earplugs. He hates having things on his head so I think the headphones are out. Do you have any suggestions??
