Hi ..
My wife and I are raising a grandchild that has been diagnosed with Aspergers after tests at a facility nearby, Glenwood - that is staffed by experts from UAB. She is 7 years old.
I will post more later. Just feeling my way for now.
What led me here was trying to find some info on Byonetics. If anyone has input on that, it would be great.
Briannna is 7, a beautiful child. She attends regular school, but lags behind pretty badly. State law mandates that the school do an IEP, which may or may not be that effective ...don't know, as this is the second year for us to try to work within that framework.
We are going to try Sylvan a couple of times a week - starting Monday, but I am a bit sceptical - to be honest. We will see.
Glad there is a forum like this. Any comments, I am wide open.

Hello and welcome....You are wonderful grandparents to pitch in like this for Brianna.
Learn as much as you can about the IEP process as it can make all the difference in a good educational program. Ask questions here as many of us have been there.

Hiya, BamaPanda, and WELCOME to the mountain! What wonderfullly dedicated grandparents you are to Brianna. I agree with shannonj..learn as much as you can about the IEP process. A well-constructed IEP with attainable short and long term goals can make or break the educational milestones that you want to see Brianna achieve.
