How am I going to get my almost 13 year old son, who has severely sensitive skin and hates creams and lotions of any kind, to wear deoderant?....

I have the same problem with Evan and he is only 6. I am able to apply those things right after he falls asleep. A few years ago I began cutting his hair with clippers along with washing it while he was asleep. I only pray I can continue this as long as possible. I have no real answer just good luck.

Have you tried Crystal roll on body deodarant? It is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, non sticky liquid. It basically is natural mineral salts. It really works. My daughter and I use and it has no aluminum chlorohydrate.

My 14 yr old's skin is very sensitive. He uses corn starch; I also use Tom's deoderant when he's playing football .. corn starch won't cut it .. he smells like a horse; no kidding! He is REALLY concerned with his body odor .. he now has friends that are girls. He makes sure to have a listerine pump in his pocket.

I use the crystal too and it is pretty good--except when I run, and nothing works then!....
I may have to ask them to run a deoderant program at school to help him get in the habit.

We introduced into our morning routine. Brush teeth, brush hair etc...At first we just put the "deod" up to the pit (no wipe)then we counted to 1. The next day/time we increased -increasing the count each time. Then we did 1 small swipe increasing up to 5 eventually. My son now does 5 swipes under each pit just as if he is brushing his teeth. It took a week. It is also better not to use right after a bath/shower as the pores are open and it can sting or irritate more. We do shower at night

Also, remember... odor is caused by bacteria. Stop the bacterial growth, and you stop the smell. Personally, I'm not a fan of anti-bacterial products, but for this situation, do what works! Try changing soaps to anti-bacterial, and wash "the pits" well. If he's in school and does PE or sports, try to get him to wash them, or even run a washrag over them, before and after. It makes a big difference.
Also, using a soap like Dr. Bronner's (esp. the peppermint, lavender, and tea tree oil liquid soaps) work very, very well for really cutting through grime and the essential oils in them help inhibit bacterial and fungal growth (good to remember when that other teen boy thing - jock itch and athlete's foot - starts to show up).

We use Old Spice Aquareef and it goes on pretty dry and the boys like it. We pretty much just do a verbal checklist of shower, hair, teeth and deodorant and of course getting dressed. Sometimes the boys will say "Mom, I'm not a baby!" lol but usually there is something that got missed lol

Gage weare deodorant, too. Like some, he really can't stand the thought of body odor, so luckily, it was easy to get him to use it.

The more powdery but non scented ones work with my youngest...my oldest LIKES the gel kind and my middle will only use the spray on kind....I mean, you'd think at least 2 would get on board together!! Oh well, any ways, there are some non scented dry feeling ones that may work.
