Here is a few things I have picked up that gives you an idea of what I have learned. Terms FAPE this one means Free and Apporiate Public Education SARB This one means School Attendance Review Board there are so many more. Always tape record your IEP meeting you only have to give 24 hour notice. I just thought of this last week and I did it . . I wanted to make sure a important letter I wrote was going in my son's file and it would not just "disapear" I made up a page for them to sign stating this and to my amazement they signed it. Here they always want us to sign stuff. Also you don't have to sign the IEP you can only sign the parts you agree with some or all. Well that's enough to get started with I would say

When ever you write a letter, make sure that somewhere in the body of the letter you state that the mentioned letter is to become a perminate part of the childs file, and you make copies for all the childs binders, and if you have a case worker you give them one tool.
