At one IEP 13 people all got a turn at writng down all of Julian strengths and abilities...they filled up 9 large peices of butcher paper the length of the wall and standard withe, then they add another will all the therapies and interventions I have done, it was just about the same as the first, last they added his deficets, these were very few,...1-speech delay...2-frustration due to speech delay...3-heavy metal toxicity...4-cognative delay due to brain stem injury...and that was it...I said thank you for finally seeing Julian for who he is and not what a diagnosis has him as...signed the papers and took my guys hand and walked out...he has been homeschooled since...IF only they would have seen all his accomplishments before, he would still be in school.

The team was happy to be there

Everybody in the room was glad to be there and really loved their jobs. They gave Daniel MORE speech than his IEP required, because it's part of their program to have two speech pathologists in the classroom every day for inclusion science. They listened to Daniel and took his wishes seriously, and WROTE THEM DOWN. These are the people at the High School, and I really hope none of them transfers to another school or quits because it's such a relief to work with them.

A Director being Heartfelt!

08-13-08
In Dec of 07 my son was hurt at school because of personal negelt . I classroom teacher never said she was sorry. I even put it in writing that I wanted the staff to say they were sorry. At the last IEP I had for my son , becasue he never returned to school he is homeschooled now. I read a letter I wrote to the state. The Director teared up. At the end of the meeting she hugged me and said she was sorry.
