Welcome! I would love to hear from other parent's of daughter's with an autism spectrum disorder. Our daughter just turned 5 and is diagnosed with PDD-NOS though Asperger's is suspected.

My daughter is 3 and they say she is on the spectrum her doctor at first said pdd-nos now he just says spectrum, she has seen many other specilaist and they all say pdd-nos...

It sounds like your daughter could have an ASD, perhaps Asperger's. Part of the reason that girls are diagnosed later is because they can and do show more skills in communication and social relationships than boys affected by autism. Also part of the criteria for Asperger's is that there is no significant impairment in language development. Children with Asperger's are usually normal to high intelligence.

my daughter is gonna be 8 april 13th and i have been told by psych that she has asd but im still confused even though she has all kinds of signs she just seems like her verbal skills at times are to intelligent to have autism.does anyone else have this problem?she is still not potty trained,agressive,sensory disorder,and social and communication delays amongst other things.any ideas?

I'm glad you have a diagnosis finally. I know when my daughter was diagnosed I was so relieved that someone else finally understood her better than I did. Then I spent the rest of the day crying because I knew what we were up against. I admire your positive attitude and wish you success on your journey. I think probably many girls are diagnosed later because they have different abilities that maybe aren't seen as much in boys affected by autism. Afternoon Lavender, my name is Vikki and I live in NJ. My daughter will be 10 3/1. She has just gotten diagnosis of AS. I feel blessed to have received her diag. Now I can go forward and assist her in becoming a healthy happy child.
