I knew I had characterisitics but am a little stunned. My kids' doc thinks I have ASperger's and so do a couple of friends. They are people who would know. I have close friends and a relationship with my husband for almost 13 years. Hmmmm. I guess the experts who tell us about asperger's doesn't know as much as they think.

recently diagnosed Aspergers :)

Hi, My daughter was diagnosed with Aspergers ages 8 then my mother decided to be tested and now me. We all have it. I love that we all have it, I do think of it in a positive way. There is nothing wrong with thinking differently. We all have problems with social situations but we do not push ourselves. If we want to stay home; we do :)
I have a very supporting husband and he does a lot of the communicating with friends/schools etc.
I am lucky to be able to stay home most of the time as I only work one afternoon a fortnight. As the anxiety about my change of routine used to be terrible. Now that I have fixed that my life is great.
I know what is going to set me off most of the time and I now prevent issues before they get out of control.. although sometimes it is uncontrollable.

I would love to talk to anyone else that has Aspergers as well as parents with Aspergers children, maybe I could help them with problems with their children?

re: AS or ADD

I'm always amazed by how little we know about how our own brains work. Most of the differences in names for ASD or ADD and other related conditions are just who looks at it, when it presents, and what else is involved.

For instance ASD are often co-morbid with other conditions like ADD/ADHD, OCD, Tourett's, ect... Most ASD diagnosis are done on children though, and it can be very hard to find someone willing or able to diagnose in an adult.
