DMPS suppository chelation

Has anyone else tried this kind and method of chelation? James was on it for two weeks and then we needed to stop because he developed the NASTIEST rash ever.
I had done it using latex gloves, A&D ointment (to ease in the anal suppository), and after the fourth time, he had such a bad rash right outside of his anus on his glutes. First it got red, then it turned into an open wound. It scabbed, then opened up again... it was VERY painful for him. He wouldn't sit down for 10 days. Our DAN! dr. is about two hours from us and when we called her and sent her emails... it a week to get a response. She says she has never heard of this reaction to the chelation. I asked her if it could perhaps be a latex reaction. She wrote back saying "maybe." That's it.
It gets frustrating at times because my son is under her care and when things happen/go wrong... no other dr. knows what or why I am giving him these things so... they don't know how to answer my questions.
Thank you Shannon for Foggy Rock!

sounds like the gloves...b/c you probably had to hold your hand there to keep it in - huh? But also check with the co. that made the supp. Maybe there was an inactive ingrediant that was not tolerated - you can check and see if anyone else has had that reaction. Talk directly with the compounding pharm - I call our's all the time, they know the med better than the dan half the time.
Sounds like time for a new dan! too

Please remember that the anus area is not covered by skin...it is a very thin membrane, and that is why the medicaltion can penetrate the area and get into the bloodstream...now you are moving the yeast and it is not happy...you want to kill it and it wants to live...it is going to fight back...it can even show up in the mouht as thrush...YOU NEED TO GIVE THE BIFIDOPHILIS (the good bacteria) to eat up the dying yeast.

ask your Dr. to do a allergy test...your Peds. or Dan Dr. can give you the Rx for this test...Do a complete food allergy and enviornmental allergy test along with the latex...

It does sound like a latex reaction. You could do a test by just one touch on a certain part of his body and look for a reaction. You can get vynil (spelling) latex free gloves. Also I have heard of people breaking out in a rash from the detox process but since it is in the same area as the contact I believe it is latex allergy which is not uncommon. Google latex allergy and see if there are any pictures you can compare it to. But it could also be a reaction to something in the suppository like glycerin. We are using a oral chelator that I told you about in my email. I thought I had also heard of a topical/patch one? I don't think we will be doing the suppositories.

I get reactions to latex. Such as redness, itching, burning. Its not fun. It takes me a few days for it to go away after exposure.

I will be doing suppositorys on Jared but ours are DMSA's and I'll do them for 3 nights with 11 days off and then repeat it over again. It seems to me it might be the gloves thats doing it but i'm not sure either. If your having a hard time communicating with your DAN maybe you can find one that will be more helpful. I know I can cummunicate with ours or if I have any ?'s I get most of my info. from his assistant who also is a mom on the spectrum.
