DAN! visit

We had our second DAN! visit and got some test results. Our DAN! was nice enough to record the entire visit for us so I could review it later which I need to do because it is information overload.
Hair analysis showed Large amounts of Arsenic, Bismuth, Tin, Titanium, Medium amounts of Aluminum, Antimony, Cadmium, Small amounts of Lead, Mercury, Thorium, Nickel, Silver. The doc said that the mercury may show low because he is not excreting because it is trapped inside the body. Or the NCD I am using is working. He is not convinced that NCD pulls heavy metals but it does something, maybe a anti-viral. He has seen good results with it.
Other elements:
severely low, Manganese, Lithium, Cobalt. Low, Copper, Barium, Germanium. High, Sodium, Potassium and Chronium. It is actually kind of strange because I had heard most kids with Autism have high copper and low zinc. His Zinc is normal and copper low.
Testosterone was normal
Thyroid was normal
B12/Folate was low but we are already addressing that with the shots.
His blood type is AB positive.
Metabolic panel:
Total cholesterol is high
LDL cholesterol is high
Urea Nitrogen (BUN) high
Creatinine was low
BUN/Creatinine ration was high
Carbon dioxide is on the low side. Hemoglobin is high, white blood count is good, platelet count was pretty high, which concerns me and the doctor seemed pretty confused by his results as well. He stated that is looks like his diet consists of soda pop and animal flesh, which he has neither. He also stated it looks like he is in an environment deprived of oxygen. Strange. I guess I need to get a plant for his room, I am very concerned about this.
Strep was normal so no further testing to check for PANDAS, which I didn't suspect anyway.
Homocysteine was normal.
Suggestions:
Add one 5mg Lithium daily
Liquid Mineral "toddy" twice a day. It is customized for him and I have to mix it daily.
Vita-spectrum multi-vitamin 1/2 dose daily.
re-eval in one month.
We are doing the OAT, organic acid test. They gave me the kit but when I got it home I noticed it dosen't have the bag that tapes on the pee pee so I am going to have to get one before I can do as my ds is not potty trained and will not go in the potty or a cup. Any suggestions anyone??
That leaves four tests he recommended which we have to wait on because they are very expensive and we are running out of money.
BodyBio Essential Fatty Acids $600. NeuroScreen $244. RBC elements $272. Basic Autism Panel $550.
We are not currently on a specific diet do to my son's other issues he had not had diary or gluten until after his second birthday and he had no changes. But we do suspect some yeastie issues and he said the OAT test would show that.
I asked him what I should be doing to treat the brain inflammation, he said that he wants to figure out what is causing it first (toxin vs viral) and we are treating with the things we are already doing.
He was also surprised that my ds seemed to do better with B12 with folinic acid than without because he folate was good to start with.
I am sure I am missing some things but any input is appreciated I am still trying to understand it myself. I am really glad I decided to see a DAN! and not continue trying to treat him myself because I would have decreased copper and upped zinc. I am glad to know his levels. How often will these have to be tested???
I also brought up the over heating issue, he thinks it may be caused also by heavy metal toxicity. He was surprised to hear that I had so many other parents tell me their child has the same problem. He said he never thought of asking that question and that parents don't think of it either.

I always love it when them take things you thought Oh boy. Has your guy had any tummy troubles with the mineral coctails. When I gave Sammy Zinc in the past he cried and cried. I need to giv eit again because he needs it really bad. Im hoping it will help with his desire to play with his spit.

So far so good taking the new multi-vitamin and mineral coctails. When I first mixed up the multi vitamin I was like he isn't going to drink this. It has a really strong lemon smell and it does not dissolve completely. I have even tried warm water and it still doesn't dissolve completely. He can't drink it out of his regular sippy cup because the little grains stop up the holes. I have to give it in a straw sippy and he has been doing great to my surprise. Yeah!

We barely make it, we get $16.00 a month. Laughable isn't it. The good news is since he qualifies for that we get the Medicaid automatically. We have private ins. so the medicaid is our secondary with helps tremendously for therapies because otherwise we could not afford the copays and deductibles. It is like we are trapped, my husband can't get a raise because it would not be worth the it to lose the secondary ins. Something needs to be done to protect the disabled children in this country because the current system is not working.

No I don't think so. I can't afford to do anymore tests right now. It is so frustrating not being able to do these tests because of finances. But at least we slowly getting there.

it does look like you need to look at his EFA"s as that may be contributing to his Cholesteral and why his diet looks like it does. did they look at carnintine profiles or amino acids profile either blood or plasma or urine? those can also effect those things
