would love to hear of experiances with medications. We are considering trying medication to help with our sons hyperactivity.

Sue-
Maybe throw your question about treatments for hyperactivity on the forum section. Then it will be seen by more folks and will be included in the next newsletter.

medication

I completely agree with you and have tried many different things to help curb my sons hyperactivity. We have tried different diets, biofeedback, behavior therapy. I was hoping someone might suggest something we might be able to try. Medication is our last option so I'm hoping someone else will have a suggestion of something that has worked for them.

introducing meds

From experience, I would recommend that parents try everything else possible before they get on the medication rollercoaster. Meds can be good, but they also have side effects--even the best ones, and once a kid is medicated, it is often hard to tell if behaviors, illnesses etc... are related to meds or caused by something else. Often in the ASD community, I understand, a med will work well for a period and then just stop being effective. At that point, a new med is introduced and the rollercoaster ride begins. I think it is better to try to figure out the source of they behavior (hyperactivity in your case) and treat it with more natural treatments. Just my opinion.
