Sleep Issues?

I sit here and wonder if everyone else has the same sleep issues? Will wakes up all night. I'm one of those mom's who lets their child sleep in their bed (not great for the marraige but I was sick of getting up 27 times a night). So he wakes up and I try to just rock him or hum a little but end up sticking a bottle back in his mouth and he is back off to sleep.
My pediatrician told me right now I just need to pick my battles and we both need the sleep. I think she can sense I'm doing the best I can right now.
We are going to try Melatonin soon (I have used it for years, don't know why I didn't think about it for Will, my mom uses it to make her excema clear up? )
Anyway, I also think the diet is going to help.
Just wondering if your little ones have trouble sleeping as well?

Sleep....

Oh yes - the days of sleep. My son, Corvus, has a sleep disorder. He first slept through the night at 5 1/2. He still has sleepless nights (2 years later) but fortunately they are few!! I remember the zombie-like state I walked through for many years!!
We also put Corvus in our bed. He was restless and had lots of nightmares. If he had time to fully wake, he would be up for a long time (1-4 hours), if he did not, he could get back to sleep. The problem was that his restlessness (even when fully asleep, he travelled the bed and sometimes the room - making us have to put the matresses on the floor!) kept us awake. So, I moved his matress into our room on the floor right next to my matress and my side. Fortunately, my matress was just a little higher than his and we piled all the large pillows in the house at the bottom of his mattress. This kept him on his matress in his travels -most nights - but he was also close enough to comfort and get back to sleep.
Some kids are helped a lot by heavy blnkets. Corvus sleeps much better with a heavy quilt (there are weighted blankets and he used to have one, but I have found the heavy quilt is enough.) This is a sensory issue and always worth trying out.
Melatonin has helped many of my clients - although Corvus did not seem to benefit from it (go figure). It is very natural and does not really effect the system too much - just improves sleep. There are, of course, other sleeping medications, but I do not recommend them with toddlers.
Good luck to you all and pleasant, sleep-filled nights!! Deb

Jameson is two years and two months old. He has been having sleep issues for the last few months. He slept so well as an infant and young toddler but now he will wake up up at night and "rock" in his crib. There are times when he rocks on his knees, head on the mattress and he is not "awake" and then there are times that he will stand up and rock while holding onto the railing of the crib. Once in awhile he will cry out but it does not last. Most nights I do not have to go in and get him back to sleep but it makes for days where he is tired during therapy and will get frustrated more easily. I have also thought about the Melatonin.....
