Hi, my name is Deanna and I have an 8 year old daughter Madison who has high functioning Autism. She LOVES to swing! She waits for the blue swing a school outside and wont use the others. She politely asks the children if she can use the blue swing.

Mine goes thru periods where he will either like the swing or the slide. The swing he use to love he hates now and only like the hammock type swing at therapy, so of course I ordered one, haven't gotten it yet. I think he just feels more secure like he can't fall in it.

Daniel used to swing a lot more than he does now. Now, he likes to drape himself across two swings and sway back and forth with his head down. We have a gross motor/sensory yard, too. My husband build a sandbox, climbing fort and swingset right after we moved in here, because I was pregnant and he was gone a lot and he felt really sorry for me. Sometimes, we go to a hilly place and let them roll down the hill. That occupies all the kids, even the "normal" ones, for a very long time. Gives me time to read!

Mitchell LOVES to swing, and Owen isn't far off, although Owen likes to sit and swing in my garden swing (loveseat size with canopy) rather than on the swing set. They also really love the slide, and Owen can play on the slide for an hour or more at a time.

Actually, we've pretty much got a gross motor skill backyard...LOL. Mitchell calls it the playground. We've got a Little Tykes fort, a jungle gym, swing set with slide, see-saw, and an 8'x8' sand box which we built for them last year. Plus, they've discovered that their little sister's ride on toy is sturdy enough to carry one of them and be pushed down our small hill, so that's their major preoccupation now. :o)

My boys have enjoyed Swinging from about a week old. They still will go out to our garden swing and will swing for hours!
