Sometimes when you think things just can't get much worse, you will find that wonderful opprotunity to sit back and laugh - and enjoy the moment!  Last week was one of THOSE weeks.  Our 16 yr old PDD-NOS was NOT having a good time returning to school.  The temper tantrums and crying episodes returned from last yr. (UGH!).  When the phone rang on Monday, with his teacher saying, "I need you here NOW!"  I should've realized this was going to be a rough week.  Then Tuesday came with my 14 yr old Asperger's son. . . I got a call from the principal.  He had hit another student during passing period.  Oh boy. . . he doesn't want to be treated any differently from the "neuro" kids - so the punishment was jsut as they would get - suspended (for one day).  Okay, now I'm wondering how much worse can this week get?  Friday finally arrives and our PDD-NOS son is in a life skills type class room.  On Fridays the students prepared their lunch.  They cook the entire meal, and sit down to eat together.  When Brian got into our van after school I ask him how his day went. .. "I had a good day.  I didn't cry"  (always a good sign!)  Then I asked him what they cooked in class today. . . "We fixed garbage bread!"  (yeah, sometimes you jsut gotta laugh. . . )  I spoke tot he teacher and told her I found it interesting that they had garbage bread - she said, "Oh no!  Brian, it was called GARLIC bread!"   So, when you think things can't get much worse, head to your kitchen and fix yourself a slice of garbage bread - it might help to put a smile back on your face!
