Autism-Alzheimers-Parallels
This group is for the discussion of the similarities found in both Autism and Alzheimers in particularly the feeling of the families being robbed of the person they once knew. The parallels between this two disorders are scary to say the least. Focus will be on alternative treatments and on healing both Autism and Alzheimers. Many children with Autism are recovering, but yet Alzheimers patients just seem to give up. Why give up on our elderly, when we would not give up on our children. Neither disease is a normal part of childhood or of aging. All my life I've been hunted by the image of my paternal grandfather-confined to his room and trapped in his body because of some kind of senile dementia. I remember him standing behind a gate in front of his bedroom door, wearing white boxer shorts and no shirt. He looked thin, frail and lost in his own world, just like many kids with autism, including his own great-grandson Mickie.
