Summary Statement:

Hello, my name is Jaclyn Anthony, I work at UNC Chapel Hill with the Autism Research Program on a MRI Study of Early Brain Development. This study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, is being conducted by some of the worlds leading researchers in the field of autism, with over 4 different sites across the US. Currently, we are searching for 100 participants in the South Eastern US to meet the following criteria:

Are between the ages of 0-12 months of age (parents who are expecting may also be eligible)

Have an older sibling diagnosed with autism

What Will Happen If You Participate:

You and your child will travel to Chapel Hill, NC for a comprehensive series of developmental assessments

Your child will receive an MRI scan while they are sleeping (all travel and lodging costs are reimbursed, and any services we provide are at no charge to you)


Other Information:

As far as cost is concerned, you will not have to pay for any services, travel, lodging or mailings related to this study. There is no cost out of pocket for flights {if necessary}, a rental car {if necessary}, lodging, or medical services provided at UNC. There is a turnaround time of less than a month for reimbursement for food, gas, snacks etc…. We arrange all of the travel for you, working within your time lines of availability, and study needs.

There is a $50 payment give to every completed MRI scan, as well as every completed assessment. This will be given to you at the time of reimbursement.

Why Should You Participate:

With a few trips to Chapel Hill, you and your child will be a part of this important study that will help provide important information regarding early brain development in autism, which may in turn provide clues that will eventually result in early interventions (e.g., early behavioral or medication treatments) to improve outcomes for children with autism. You will also receive reports on the assessments completed with your child and have access to some of the leading researchers in the field of autism.

You and your child can be significant contributors to the success of research! Participating in this study is not the only way to get involved, please consider sharing his information with your friends and family.
