4muskateers's Bio

Hi,

My name is Diana,  I have one daughter (27) and four boys (22) (14) (13) and (9).  I have 1 grand-daughter in heaven and four grand-sons (7) (4) (1) and (2).  I have been happily married for 14 years and 12 of them have been with the challenges of autism, and year 15 is this May.  I used to hold support meetings for parents here in Madera, I did this for 4 1/2 years...But do to the lack of parental interest in recovering these children, In July of 2007, I stopped the support group...I still provide resources when the local agencies ask for them.  Now we try and do as many family outings as possible. I homeschool Julian, and I am his teacher, doctor, nurse, one on one aide, and  therapist for everything.

As long as God gives be breath, I will continue to keep looking under every stone, and move as many mountains as possible to help Julian recover, and be all GOD intended him to be.   May GOD's glory shine through Julian for the world to see.   amen y amen.

With school almost starting, I have decided to hire a teacher, to help keep up with Julian's file...the state keeps changing the rulings on Homeschooler, so I have decided to cover my bases...she will be also coming over to test Julian and help keep the generalization going...and it will be great to see how he responds to someone else asking the questions...and I get to hear about how he answers...I won't be in the same area when he is tested...I feel this is best for Julian, he won't feel intimidated by having me in the same room.

that would be difficult to handle! I cant imagine... This is good news...If YOU feel it is... My son is still in public school and I'm considering home schooling but I dont know how I would afford the materials and stuff we already struggle so much. This should be called supermom's. You know people in my community always say "I DONT KNOW HOW YOU DO IT" but I dont either but I seriously DONT know how you ALL do it.. BUT you all seem more up to it on the theories to and I still dont have a clue about the shots and bio-meds... I felt like I had done alot of researching but... grsh... I'm lacking here

Diana, you go girl!!! Beau went to Sylvan learning Center in addition to school. He also had a tutor to help him with the Alabama Exit Exam. He was in regular classes most of the time unless he had a meltdown, but praise God he made it!!!! He even made it through his Special Education teacher kiling himself. This was terrible!!! I thought I would not make it myself. I cried for weeks after this happened!!!!

Excellent!! I pray that this is a good thing for Julian. I agree with Mrs.H. I think she will be a great advocate at IEP time and for other meetings. You Rock, Momma!!

Sounds like a good idea...cover all your bases and give Julian just what he needs at the same time.

Good thinking - she/he can also perhaps be an advocate for IEP meetings, and other support. :)

I'm glad for you that you're going to have help. Also, it sounds like Julian is doing great and will be able to tolerate someone else teaching him. It's frustrating that the state keeps changing the rules for homeschooling. Here, we just have to sign a waiver saying the state is not responsible for educating our child, and have the child take a standardized test once a year. Still, with all the other pressures you have on you right now (how is the custody thing going? And how is Noah?) maybe it's all for the best. Good for you for rolling with it all.
