4muskateers's Bio

Hi,

My name is Diana,  I have one daughter (29) and four boys (23) (15) (14) and (10).  I have 1 grand-daughter in heaven and four grand-sons (9) (5) (2) and (3).  I have been happily married for 16 years and 14 of them have been with the challenges of autism, and year 16 is this May.   I am currently studying at ISOM...an online school of ministry, I am working for my BA.I  provide resources on autism when the local agencies ask for them.  Now we try and do as many family outings as possible. I homeschool Julian, and I am his teacher, doctor, nurse, one on one aide, personal cheer leader and  therapist for everything.

As long as God gives be breath, I will continue to keep looking under every stone, and move as many mountains as possible to help Julian recover, and be all GOD intended him to be.   May GOD's glory shine through Julian for the world to see.   amen y amen Jesus.

Autism's Impact on My Career
by 4muskateers on 06.30.09 - public - 108 visits

Well where do I start...I went from being a pre-school teacher for 3 years to a sub. for 2 more years. Then in 2004 I called it quits. I decided Julian needed me at home to teach...I asked GOD a question...what should I do, he answered "I gave him to you, not to anyone else". So I had my answer...my teaching degrees where now meant for Julian and my other children. In 2007 I decided to pursue a degree in mimistry for special needs...that has gone very slow, since I keep stopping to be a nurse~giving injections...a Dr.~dispensing meds...a secretary~take long and descriptive notes...teacher~teaching everything from hygine to daily skills for survival...I became an advocate~for Julian and for the others too...and I have been every therapist you can think of...and my most important degrees have come from the World Wide Web free of charge~I only had to put in the time~ and the are signed by: Master Julian Jesus Olivarria-Alvarado ASD.

I had to stop working outside the home in order to work inside the home with my family. One of my pet peeves is that people think I don't work. I do. I just don't get paid with money.

My day job and professional degrees pay the rent; my degree in Autism makes me what I am. . .a special needs mother and advocate.

I know you have a degree in Autism if anyone does. Are you saying you've finished your other degree? Or am I reading into this email.
