Hello,
I am a stay at home mom to 4 wonderful children. i would not trade the time i get to spend with them for anything. The kids are growing up so fast it is unreal. My oldest is in second grade this year, my little me...lol..(she looks just like me) is in kindergarten, and then my baby girl was 4 in November, and my baby boy was 3 in December...He is the reason for joining this site.He is in the process of being evaluated for Autism. So far all they will tell me is that he has developmental delays, Gross motor delays, mixed receptive/expressive language disorder, sensory issues, low muscle tone...and then they say.."Early signs of Aspergers" or "Possible PDD-NOS" , we take him back again this month..i am hoping to hear something other than bring him back in 3 months..:) and his regular ped, said he thinks hi is on the higher end of the spectrum. and his speech therapist said she thinks he might have apraxia...so there you have it.....my introduction....:)...i am hoping to make some friends who understand without a word....:)

So we have "officaly" started to work on potty training...i am going to update this blog every day with our good days and with our bad....this is day one..Silas seems to really like wearing his undies..:)
Day 1-June 19th 2008...He did GREAT today he stayed dry all day...untill he went outside and he peed twice, and he does not care if he is wet so i have to keep checking on him to see if he is still dry..lol...and he is not saying he has to go...i am just taking him about every hour to hour and a half..and he seems excited! at nap obviously he wears a diaper t he pooped in his diaper...but thats ok, we are just starting...:)
Day 2 June 20th 2008....Woke up dry, he peed a HUGE pee on the potty....9:13 am asked him if he had to go he ACTUALLY said YES!!!! so i took him but he did not go, BUT he got up on the stool to wash his hands and started peeing....so he DID have to go and he RECOGNIZED the feeling of having to go....!! i know it will not happen overnight but this is a HUGE step for him...realizing the feeling of having to go!!! He also seems to NOT enjoy all the prise and excitement like the other kids did...when he does pee on the potty and we get all happy for him he gets MAD..and i think embarrassed or somehting..possibly overstimulated...?.so we give high fives and a piece of candy..lol..he is ok with that..:)
we have a whole new habbit..lol. ..he has ALWAYS loved sticking his
hand down the front of his diaper, or tucking his blanket in
there..well now that he has been wearing undies, he has very EASY
access and is CONSTANTLY playing with himself...should i try to curb
this behavior now...or ignore it because we are just starting the
potty training and i dont want to frustrate him to the point where he
rejects undies ya know...lol.. i think that is one of the reasons he
LOVES wearing them ..lol...i have asked him EVERY morning for almost a
year if he wanted to wear undies today, he woudl ALWAYS say NO...but
yesterday he said YES...lol..and now he REFUSES the diaper, even at
nap time..so we had to go get cool pull ups for nap time..lol

Sounds like you are off to a great start! We are doing the same thing at my house so I sympathize and offer you all the encouragement in the world! Yesterday we got 4 pees in the potty, but so far this am we have had 2 accidents... We'll keep at it!!

Oh, I'm so glad all my kids are past potty training!!! The instant access thing-- they ALL do that, girls too... As long as it doesn't become an obsession for him (hard to tell at this point) I wouldn't mess with it.

Good luck! He sounds a lot easier than mine are/were. I have had the worst time getting my kids to potty. BUt the bad thing is she knows what to do and the feeling. SHe just does not want to give up the diaper. Or will not communicate the need to go. UGH! My son is finally done except for nights. He is full still. It may be the seizures though. All in good time.
