GHOSTMISTRESS212's Bio

Hello every one  i am a mum of three and my eldest son james is 6 and is autistic his sister is called faith and she is 2 and martin is 1. Day to day life with james is hard as if he don't want to do as he wants to do, then you can forget doing anything for the day as he will make even harder. I have found the best way to get jame to do anything is to tell him as soon as he gets up in the mornig so he can get him self ready for what the day has instore for him. the best way for us as a family to learn about autism was through books and james as he changes every time he gets over a new thing in his way. My husband duane of 3 years but patner for longer is my rock in helping me get through life with james.

We would never changed james one little bit as we love him just the way he is.

Good question. We use melatonin, but some nights (like last night) nothing worked to get him ready for bed. So nice when they finally go to sleep isn't it?!

What is the natural hormone tablet? Melatonin? Valerian is the plant/herb that Valium is based on.

Sleeping used to be a problem for our son until we accidentally solved his chronic constipation. Turns out a side effect of one of his medications (Prozac)really loosens things up!

Yeah, I have mutiple writings & such whinning about Liv's sleep patterns. I have not tried any of the OTC remedies yet. I do try & give her rice or something like that before bed. Sometimes it is so challenging

We have relied on melatonin to help my son settle into sleep for years now..Couldn't live without it. There is an herb called Valerian that many say is as effective as melatonin. I haven't tried it but it might be easier for you to get then melatonin in the UK

Hi Frogfoot, yeh thanks I may well do I'm sick of being stuck in limbo between different referrels to different specialists. You get to a point when enough is enough, if no one is willing to help you have to help yourself, even if they wouldn't recommend it!

Hi, my son Kai is quite hyper and it takes him hours to settle down, I posted a question on the forum about 'any advice on melatonin' which you may be interested. We're are waiting to see a specialist who will hopefully prescribe it for us as unfortunately as you will know we haven't got a Walmart in the UK that you can just buy it from and you can't get it from the chemist without a prescription. Is the tablet from the hospital making it easier now for you?
