We are a family of  7, recently (Oct 2007) our 6 year old son was diagnosed w/ ASD.  We are still learning the ropes.  We have had several IEPs with the district. After much back and forth he is finally receiving speech and OT 2x's a week.  We have also hired a behaviorist and a private aide.  The aide is with him at school. We also took him to see a DAN! doctor.  We are waiting for test results.  In the mean time we have removed soy and most sugar from his diet.   We were already GF/CF. We also have quite a few more vitamin supplements including pro-biotics and enzymes to help him get more from his food.  He has become more verbal and responsive (eye contact). His spontaneous language has also increased.  We are still very encouraged about his prognosis.  He has been doing awesome with his aide so, we are not going to change his aide. The public school won' t allow a private aide so we decided on a private school.
