I am the dad of my 4 y/o daughter Liv. She was dx in August of 07. Liv is my only child. If you stop by my page leave me a post below. God Speed to you all.
I am in my mid 30's recently divorced (unrelated to autism & pre-regression). Liv & I enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. This summer I hope to take her camping with me. BTW, I am the worst speller of all time please take a laugh at how I spell ;)

It is funny Autism can make a child think differently. A little girl may retreat from social situations. Not care about how her hair, clothes, etc look. Among all the other tell tale characteristics of autism...
But, I found one thing that is SO hardwired. A woman's love of shoes. Liv loves shoes. She loves the colorful, sparkly, flipant, whatever... She loves to try them on & walk around the house. And, will always direct her focus on a pair of shoes. Just thought it was funny & a bit of normalness ;)

It's great to know that, even in the throes of autism, our kids still have a personality, with interests and desires that are real....

Maybe she'll be a shoe designer... perhaps make a pair of fashionable women's shoes that are actually comfortable.

Very funny! I love it when they do such normal things! Just goes to show that the brain is a complicated and wonderful place.

Watch out papa, start saving a quarter a day starting now, so when she is a teenager you will beable to buy all the last shoe fashions. I personally HATE wearing any type of shoes. Bare feet for ME! drove my mama and grandma nuts.
