I am a stay at home mom, with five children (ages 6 to 21), two dogs, two cats, and three, oops two fish. Stephanie 21, Kristine 19, Rebecca 16, Geoffrey 9, and Victoria 6.  Geoffrey is the only child with autism.  I believe his condition is a gentic issue, as every one of my female siblings have a son with the same symptons that vary in seriousness.  My brothers also have symptoms and this pattern is traceable up my mothers family tree.

At this point and time we have been told that Geoffrey has Asperger's, however, after some reasearch I disagree with this.  Geoffrey did not speak until he was 3 1/2 years old and everything I read said that alone disqualifies the diagnosis.  We have been referred to a Pediatric Neurologist in another state ( the waiting list here is 18 months)  so, we shall see.
