MOSES Mom's Bio

Mike Overcoming Speechless Encumbrance Superbly (MOSES)!

MOSES officially stands for my son, "Mike Overcoming Speechless Encumbrance Superbly." It also quite aptly stands for "Mike: Outstanding, Smart, Extraordinary, Surprising." The acronym MOSES was inspired by portions of Exodus 3 & 4 in the Bible, when God told Moses to go plead the Hebrews' case with Pharoh, Moses responded to God, "I am slow of speech and tongue." The Lord said to Moses, "who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go. I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."

I am Lisa, aka MOSES Mom. Mike is now 15 years old, born in Aug. 1993. I am also mom to Daniel, born October 1990, and Saralyn, our bonus baby, born July 2003. My husband Jim and I have been married 25+ years. Mike is the kind of kid that puts the puzzle in autism. We started biomedical interventions and diet when he was three years old, and added an ABA program just a few months later. For the next 8+ years we tried just about everything that the autism community was hotly promoting at the moment. He remained nonverbal and a *nonresponder*, and continued to worsen in health and behavior until we found sequential/integrative homeopathy through the Homeopathy Center of Houston. After a year of treatments with our amazing homeopath named Lindyl Lanham, my son officially became a *responder*. He is still nonverbal, but his health has improved, he's social, now uses a ChatPC communication device, is learning to type on a Lightwriter, and excels at academics. In the past year alone, his Autism Research Institute ATEC scores jumped from 69 to 37 (the lower the better).

What does this mean for our family? It means that we are starting to breathe again. We are healing from years of stress and difficulty. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

Recovery with Homeopathy

Two moms discuss the amazing results they have had treating their children with sequential/integrative homeopathy through the Homeopathy Center of Houston.

By Lisa Poole

“Within the first two months, we stopped all therapies for my son. We began to have a normal life not filled with doctor and therapy appointments,” said Jamie Brown of her son Preston's dramatic response to treatment through the Homeopathy Center of Houston. According to Jamie, eight-year-old Preston is living the life of a recovered child after just one and a half years.

Like so many other families with a child on the autism spectrum, Jamie and her husband, Dave, sought out countless treatments and therapies after their son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at age two.

“I filed over $300,000 in itemized, taxable medical deductions over five years' time doing DAN!, Yasko, ABA and other therapies,” said Jamie. “This doesn't include the many other expenses we had:” private school, homeschool, occupational and speech therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, supplements, diet, and the cost to green their home from environmental toxins.

“We easily spent around half-a-million only to still have a sick child – improved, yes, but still sick and I was very frustrated to say the least.”

Within three weeks of their first consultation with homeopath and co-owner, Cindy Griffin, Jamie noted new skills and social interactions.

Griffin, who recovered her own son from Asperger's Syndrome, admits that not every child responds so quickly. But, 40 autism spectrum clients are recovered with many dozens more dramatically improved. Many are on their way to recovery, or “the complete annihilation of the disease” -- a definition Griffin borrows from the writings of Samuel Hahnemann, the 18th Century MD who first identified and developed the system of homeopathy still in use today.

In response to the complexity of issues plaguing ASD children, Griffin's business partner, Lindyl Lanham developed their unique method, which they describe as sequential/integrative homeopathy. The classical and newer sequential approaches did not effectively support their clients through the often difficult process without significant healing crises.

Clients worldwide consult with the five practitioners of the Homeopathy Center, who travel extensively to keep current on, not only ASD issues, but on homeopathic remedies being developed to address some of the deepest, most troubling medical issues of our time.

Said Griffin, “[We] use more than one remedy, often several, to detoxify chemicals and heavy metals, address physical traumas, emotional traumas, and chemical exposures and all aspects of any given situation in the past that may be contributing to the current problems.” Each trauma or insult to the body is cleared in sequence, beginning with the present and going back to birth and pre-birth.

Treatment plans are developed without laboratory testing. “Most of our information comes during interview-style consultations,” she said. “Your money will go towards your child's healing, rather than for testing.”

Carolyn Torolopoulos of Dallas has six-year-old twins being treated by Griffin with mixed results. Her daughter, Eleni, saw the same dramatic results as Preston Brown. She lost her diagnosis of PDD-NOS within the first year. The road for Eleni's brother, Sammy, has not been so easy.

According to Carolyn, she and husband Sam, charged into the autism biomed battle when Sammy was diagnosed with moderate autism at just two years old. DAN! treatments brought lab tests and supplements. Next came chelation followed by hyperbaric oxygen. When Sammy was four, Amy Yasko, PhD was enlisted. “Yasko was wonderful,” said Carolyn. “She gave Sammy speech, however, it had gotten to the point that I was giving him over 100 disgusting supplements and herbs and I did not know what was working and what was not.”

Carolyn was on the verge of a breakdown. “I knew she (Yasko) was on to something, but I never felt so lost and so stupid for not being smart enough to recover Sammy.”

The switch to the Homeopathy Center of Houston in June 2007 brought Eleni's swift progress while Sammy still floundered. “Depending on what we were clearing, Sammy would revert to that time in his life,” said Carolyn. Because of his autism, “those were not such great times.”

“Each clearing would bring up horrible stims: hand-flapping, door obsessions, and verbal stims.” A total lack of focus and a return to diapers followed.

“Here I was, watching Eleni become more and more typical and Sammy becoming more and more autistic,” said Carolyn. But, at the end of each clear, Sammy would pick up a small skill. “He would be 'on' for a short period of time,” she said of those moments that kept hope alive.

Cindy Griffin has witnessed this many times. “The healing process is a natural process, and it has its own time table.” Chronic disorders, like autism, involve many layers. “True healing takes time, patience and perseverance. The children who are the most profoundly affected take the longest to achieve progress.”

In May of this year, Cindy told Carolyn and Sam she felt Sammy was infected by parasites. As with many “parasite kids”, he had sleep problems (especially during the full moon) and would put any and everything in his mouth.

“She (Cindy) warned me the parasite protocol was tough,” said Carolyn, “and the kids get way worse before they get better.” She agreed to give it a try. “What did I have to lose?”

Within minutes of the first few drops, Cindy's warning rang true. Severe behavior took over. An episode of fists, kicks and hair-pulling at the store took an emotional toll. “I put everyone back in the car and I sat in the parking lot and cried and cried and cried until there were no more tears.”

Understanding the parasites' powerful resistance, Cindy's “heart and experience told her if we got him over this hump, the window would open and the real Sammy would start to climb through,” noted Carolyn.

With a leap of faith, they continued the parasite cleanse. Now, three-months later, Sammy's improvements shine by the day. He's potty trained, tells jokes, dances, sight-reads and is interested in his family. “I feel I opened the window and now we – homeopathy, that is – just have to push him through!”

Lisa Poole lives with her husband and three children in the Pacific Northwest. Her middle child, a 15-year-old with autism, once considered profoundly affected, has made great progress towards healing through the Homeopathy Center of Houston.

I've read The Impossible Cure, and don't yet understand how it works, but am impressed by the stories that I've heard....would love to understand it more.

My son has been on a constitutional remedy for about 2 years now and although the progress is slow, he is steadily moving forward. I was impressed enough to start working with the homeopath as well. We found ours online at a site for children with special needs and have never met her in person - we talk on the phone about every 6 weeks. I recently read that many DAN doctors support using homeopathy as a part of their interventions. We do other bio-med stuff as well, but that is fairly recent. If you want to learn more, read the book "Impossible Cure" by Amy Lansky
