Zurama's Bio

I am the mother of five children, the youngest Michael or Mickie as we like to call him, was diagnosed with Autism at 22 months old. After years of early intervention therapy, which didn't work. I learned through trial and error that he had underlying biomedical problems that culminated in Autism like symptoms, including, chronic digestive problems since the age of one, when he received the MMR vaccine.
With biomedical interventions, gfcf  and SCD diets, Mickie's body is starting to heal. Some of the most severe symptoms, head banging, night waking, self injurious behaviors are almost gone.
He lost all speech by the age of three. He is now 10 years old and has just started to say mama, for the first time in almost 8 years.

~Visited ABA Program~

I visited the ABA program the district offered me. I really liked it. It's located inside an elementary school, but when you walk into the classroom, it looks like a cottage. The colors are pastels and mostly blue. Next to that building is an OT room. Both buildings share the same gated yard.

I tried to put myself in Mickie place and asked myself, how Mickie would feel there and I think he would feel really good there.

The IEP team meets next week, and then he starts in about two weeks. In September we will regroup to take a second look at his goal and objectives, because they are too vague and not very challenging. Besides that, his academics have been neglected up to now.

No 4musk......I didn't ask about taking him in, but I find that Mickie's body language tells me when something is not going right, so I will keep my eyes peel and I will be watching his progress like a hawk, making sure it's reasonable.

Did you ask if you could take Mikie after class hours so you can see how he feels about the place...I do this when ever I needed to check out placement for Julian...I felt he needed to show me how he felt, he was the one that was going to be there not me...and it is best to visit without children there, so they can see the whole class area and get a feel for the teacher too.
