I am the mother of five children, the youngest Michael or Mickie as we like to call him, was diagnosed with Autism at 22 months old. After years of early intervention therapy, which didn't work. I learned through trial and error that he had underlying biomedical problems that culminated in Autism like symptoms, including, chronic digestive problems since the age of one, when he received the MMR vaccine.
With biomedical interventions, gfcf and SCD diets, Mickie's body is starting to heal. Some of the most severe symptoms, head banging, night waking, self injurious behaviors are almost gone.
He lost all speech by the age of three. He is now 10 years old and has just started to say mama, for the first time in almost 8 years.

Does anyone know where I could buy CFGF Peanut Butter Cookies. Mickie loves peanut butter and I want to try to teach him to eat cookies.
Also I wonder where I could buy Almond milk , since he can't have milk and I'm trying to introduce new foods now that he has been on the SCD diet for 6 months strait.

Nut milk is super easy to make, if you want to go that route. Basically, you just take about 1 cup of almonds, or whatever nut you want to try (I like cashews the best because they are the least expensive), rinse them, put them in the blender, add about 1 cup of hot water. Let them soak for a bit to soften, then whiz the heck out of them. You can add more water during the blending if you need to, but adding too much during that step can prevent you from actually getting a nice and creamy consistency. After the mixture is smooth, add as much water as you would like to make the right consistency of milk. Start with a thicker milk and add more water, just to be safe. Then, using a fine metal strainer, strain out the tiny nut pieces, add a dash of salt, a bit of vanilla, and a bit of honey to taste and you have it......
I second the thought of making your own cookies: 1 egg, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 t baking soda, 1/2 t salt. Process in food processor or mix by hand until well blended. Divide in to balls and bake on WELL OILED or parchment lined baking sheet at 350 for 12-15 mins. Here's another: http://www.yumyum.com/recipe.htm?ID=8203 The larger grocery stores or health food stores will carry Pacific brand almond milk. It is good.

John’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies (Yield:15 - 20 cookies depending on how big you make them) 1 c. creamy peanut butter 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1 egg white 1/2 c. chocolate chips (optional) 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir until the eggs are thoroughly combined with the other ingredients. 2. Stir in the chocolate chips. 3. Refrigerate the cookie dough for 15 minutes. Turn the oven to 350 degrees F to preheat. 4. Scoop the chilled cookie dough into small balls using a normal eating-sized spoon. Place the cookie dough balls onto a baking sheet about 2 inches apart from each other. 5. Bake cookies at 350 degrees for around 15 minutes. You want to take them out once the tops are getting brown. The cookies may still seem a bit soft at this point, but they will harden as they cool. 6. Let the cookies cool for 10 - 15 minutes for versions with flour..let me know that's what you need. cheryl

I have found almond milk in Win-co, Trader Joes. Recepies may be online if you would like to make milk or cookies. Jake9068 (I believe ) she got alot from AutismOne.Xylitol is a good natural sweetener for baking too.
