I keep seeing Daniel's progress, but we still have some pretty definite symptoms. For example, I took my youngest child in a stroller for a walk while everyone else was still asleep. When I got back, Daniel was supervising his 8-year-old sister as she mixed pancake batter. I offered to help, but they both wanted to do it themselves, so I stayed nearby and let them. They made some good pancakes for everybody.
Later, we needed to go to the store for some pet food. Daniel joyfully lurched across the parking lot in a jerky skip, flapping his bent arms like wings. He's starting to shave, and still pretends to be a dragon or Godzilla or something in public.
Rats.
I'm grateful for all he can do, really. But "Normal" is a far-off country and we may never get there. Probably won't.
I guess we'll have to find joy right where we are. I guess we'll have to rejoice both in pancakes and in public Godzilla impressions. Maybe next time, I ought to join him, and really make a public impression!
But, wait and see-- he'll tell me to cut it out because it's not "normal!"

You're right, Shannon, he does get lots of joy out of it! And, I like the idea of calling this the "yin" and the "yang," Carmel66.

You've got "the yin" and "the yang" as we call it around here. Hate to call it bad vs. good so we go with yin and yang now.
