Hi, all! I live with my husband of 21 years and our 4 children and numerous pets. Our oldest has high-functioning autism. The rest of the kids are, apparently, normal. I think that siblings can really help a kid with autism, but no doubt there are some costs to the NT siblings of children with autism. That said, Daniel is very kind and helpful to his siblings and the opportunity to be socially competent at home is good for him. I just hope to help him be socially competent in the wider world, too.

I've got this photo on my home page, but I'll write about it here. Sarah frequently gets on Daniel's nerves. She's fond of making loud, squeaky noises and he just can't stand that. They do love each other, though, and sometimes I catch them teaming up to do things.
This photo is one I got one morning before school let out. They were sitting on the couch, reading "Captain Underpants" together, and sharing a giggle over the rude humor. Sarah was snuggled up to Daniel, and he had his arm gently around her.
I love it when I catch them being kind to each other, all of the kids.

How wonderful! My spectrum son is the one who makes the annoying sounds to purposefully bug his siblings. Right now, it is the sound of either Darth Vadar breathing or shots from a fighter starship! It gets them every time... today they were all in the car for over 2 hours and they did wonderfully. Ian's laughter made me feel amazing. He has the best giggle. I love your picture. Big kids like Daniel can be so sweet.

You should blow this one up and frame it special. It looks like a picture you'd buy. This ones special for years to come and you're right-it's "non autistic"
