Hi my name is Sonya. I have a wonderful husband who works his butt off so I can stay home with the kids Bryan 15, nt and Seoc 4, special needs. Seoc (pronounced Shock, it is Gaelic for Jack, it means God is Gracious) has numerous diagnosis but Autism is the one we struggle with daily. He has the biggest smile and best laugh I have ever heard. He is high functioning and has hyperlexia. He keeps life very interesting to say the least.

Actually, she has had her son at many public events, the walk in Washington, at DAN! meetings, book signings..you have just missed him. Also tapes of him have been shown on some of the shows she has done, both before and after clips. I can tell you, if you met him playing at the park, you would never, ever know he had had issues...and that is what "recovery" is all about, not to say there are not still flickers from time to time, but that a child moves on into the normal realm of the world and does not stand out from typical peers. As a rescue angel who has worked with 100's of families...I can tell you I have watched childern move on and had you not known them from before, you would swear they had never been autistic. RECOVERY does happen..we don't call it cure, but recovery is possible in many cases. :) cheryl www.generationrescue.org

I got to see today's Oprah. I love Jenny and she does an awesome job getting the word out there about autism. I was a little disappointed that the show wasn't more focused on autism. And wow to Mother Warrior Monica for going through what she's gone through and can still look at life so well. I loved her motto is "What good are you to your children if you're miserable?" AMEN!!!!

My daughter is home sick today and won't be going to piano lessons--so by a rare chance, I will be home and be able to catch it!
