frogfoot1969's Bio

Hi my name is Sonya. I have a wonderful husband who works his butt off so I can stay home with the kids Bryan 15, nt and Seoc 4, special needs. Seoc (pronounced Shock, it is Gaelic for Jack, it means God is Gracious) has numerous diagnosis but Autism is the one we struggle with daily. He has the biggest smile and best laugh I have ever heard.  He is high functioning and has hyperlexia. He keeps life very interesting to say the least.

This is a copy of my blog from Myspace and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Thank you Jenny McCarthy
Current mood: blessed

I just want to say Thank you to Jenny McCarthy. When I first saw her on Oprah promoting her book Louder Than Words I did not know there was hope for reversing symptoms of Autism. I was at a point of accepting that there was nothing I could do but accept that my child had Autism. Shortly after reading her book, I read Dr. Kenneth Bock's book Healing the New Childhood Epidemics (I saw him on Montel) where he explained the things that Jenny was talking about helped her son Evan. I was afraid we could not afford these treatments they were talking about or give my child supplements and it seemed completely and utterly overwhelming. I decided to just make a first appointment with a DAN! and see where it goes and take it one step at a time. I am very pleased to say that my son's progress has been amazing. I started a natural detox in Nov. 2007 and B12 injections in Feb. 2008. This is Oct. 2008, we saw the developmental ped. and psych today and they changed one of his diagnosis from global developmental delay to just a slight developmental delay. (To be considered a global delay it has to be a 50% delay in all areas of development.) Then I was told that he is just one step away from his diagnosis being changed from Autistic Spectrum Disorder to Asperger's which is a very high functioning form of Autism. With this amount of progress in such a short time I would not be surprised if he eventually does not meet the criteria for an Autism diagnosis at all. The sad thing is when this happens Doctor across America try to say that the child must not have ever had Autism to begin with, Sigh, because you can't "cure" Autism. Well Doctor's you may not be able to cure Autism but you can help Autism!!!!

I love my son, I love him just the way he is and was and will ever be. I don't want to change who he is. I did not set out to remove his Autism. I did not set out to cure him. I set out to make him feel better and clearly he does!

Jenny Thank you for being a voice for thousands of Mom's across the country, thank you for taking a stand and not backing down. Thank you for educating me and telling me there is hope. Thank you for sharing Evan's story with the world! Thank you for writing your second book Warrior Mom's and sharing more hope for recovery. From the bottom of my heart and soul THANK YOU JENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jenny put it very well when she said that not all children are going to have the same response to these treatments, just like not all people respond to chemo. Some give her a hard time saying that she is giving false hope. I am hear to say it wasn't false hope for me!

We are all warrior mom's (monsters ) to some...but I'll growl and claw to get Julian the bright future he deserves...Jenny just has more money than we do, so she can get all the attention we need...I don't care for her rudeness and vocabulary, but she has been the only one to bring the attention one hope and recovery that our children need...it would have been wonderful if she could have worked with Dr. Bernie Rimland before he died...and yes it is true not all the children will respond the same, so a cookie cutter protocol won't work, and the DAN Dr's know this thanks to Dr. Rimland.
