Hi my name is Sonya. I have two children, Bryan 16, nt and Seoc 4, special needs. Seoc (pronounced Shock, it is Gaelic for Jack, it means God is Gracious) has numerous diagnosis but Autism is the one we struggle with daily. He has the biggest smile and best laugh I have ever heard. He is high functioning and has hyperlexia. He keeps life very interesting to say the least.

Seoc told me he wants to fly. I told him he can't fly because he doesn't have wings but he can pretend to fly. He said he wants to go to the store and get some milk and Wings! So I told him they don't sell wings and that he is a boy not a bird he can only pretend to fly. Well he is not happy that he has arms and not wings.

I always wanted to fly too. Let me tell you now...tree branches covered with cloth...will not help you fly when you jump from a tree, nor will the umbrella from the house top...Tell him to close his eyes and stretch out his arms and picture flying...best we earth bound can do!

Maybe he can pretend to "fly" in a swimming pool..... Maybe he wants to be Superman: ) Wynn used to want to fly too--and I had to really watch him around trees with low branches. Thankfully, that phase has passed.
