harleysmom2003's Bio

Hello! My name is Regina, I'm 28 and I have a 5 year old daughter, Harley, with Autism who is basically nonverbal. She is enrolled in Preschool and seems to really enjoy it. She received Speech and OT at school and is making progress. She has been doing Equine Therapy for the past couple of weeks now and LOVES it.  We are on waiting list after waiting list for additional services (TEACCH 1:1 teaching sessions, CAP list, DAN Dr appointment just to name a few). Harley is an only child and spoiled absoultely ROTTEN!! She loves music, swimming, bouncing/jumping, balloons, bubbles, dogs, and being outside in general. Her favorite tv shows are Blues Clues, Curious George and the Backyardigans.

Lately she's been having terrible tantrums-need help figuring out what in the world is causing them all of a sudden.

She is extremely affectionate-always giving hugs and kisses. We have 3 dogs...2 outside a German Shepherd and a Shepherd mix and inside we have a Jack Russell mix...all of whom are Harley's constant companions!

We live in Williamston, NC. My husband is a Lutinient at the local Sheriff's Office and I work full time with Quintiles (performing data entry). I have a very close knit family consisting of my mom, and 2 older brothers, each with 2 boys. ~~RIP Dad!~~ My mom is my best friend and works as a prek teachers assistant. My oldest brother Joe is an Xray tech and his wife Patricia is a special ed teacher and has been a shoulder to lean on and great at playing 20 ?s with me. They have a set of almost 10 year old twin boys, each affected by Cerebral Palsy. Eddie, is confinded to a wheelchair and but is very vocal and John has CP affecting primarily his hips-he recently underwent surgery to hopefully help correct his muscle tightness in his legs. He has had a rough summer...first surgery, then in a wheelchair w/casts on both legs and finally therapy. He had a follow up appointment yesterday and he has been released until December and will be able to start Aquatic Therapy soon. My other brother Jeff is on the local Sheriff's office with my hubby and has 2 sons....Glenn-18 and in the Army Reserve, Chris who is almost 13 and a 7th grader full of energy.

My daughter's autism has sent me into a whirlwind of appointments, waiting lists, books to read, diets/supplements to try, support groups/online groups, and internet queries.

Thanks for the invite. Yes, Michelle likes the dogs. Most of the time. We have 3 inside dogs. A Jack Russel named Skip, a Pug named Babydoll, and her daughter a pug/ beagle named Buttercup. Outside we have Lucy Lou a beagle/terrier mix that my Honey wants to hunt.I hope you are not against hunting. These days any way that you can survive is fine with me. Talk to you later.
