lilbitofky's Bio

Hi Everyone!!!! My name is Stephanie my husband Gary and I have been married over 8 years happily married about half of that LoL (just jokeing! I love my husband and he loves me too).

I am the mother of a beautiful 7 year old boy whom has autism. He is the light of my life and has brought me more joy and tears than anyone or anything else I have ever known! Yeah, I know it sounds like every mother of a child with autism huh! LOL That is because our kids are the most special children in the world.

My boy is becoming more verbal all the time though he can not hold a conversation with me yet, that day is coming! I look forward to him being able to communicate with everyone around him and making lifelong friends. I love to watch him reach beyond what he was able to do last year and approach other children to play.

Like many or maybe even all of you my child is my hero. The struggles that he endures on a daily basis I can't even comprehend. The best thing is he does it all with that goregous smile on his sweet little face. I hurt when he hurts, I laugh when he laughs and I cry when he cries.(NOT IN FRONT OF HIM)  However as a mother I know it is my job to be strong for him and I will as long as I live. (Even though we all have weak moments!) Because we are human!

God Bless YOU and YOUR CHILDREN THE MOST! I WILL KEEP ALL OF YOU IN MY PRAYERS!

Oh by the way we were watching a new movie with Jessica Alba in it the other night and it was kinda scary. Garrett was in the room with us and all the sudden he just spouted out "THIS IS SCARY" THIS IS SCCCCAAAARRRRRYYYYY! We just laughed so hard! We of course agreed with him that it was scary and told him we loved that he was paying attention and we love his words. He still thinks of that movie some times and tells me momma this is scary! He never ceases to amaze me that sometimes he can now let me know that he is thinking of that movie. I have so many times wondered what he was thinking of a now AI am getting a small glimpse that he like us thinks of everyday things that have happened recently. I love it!

This summer I started the first play group for autism and down syndrome kids in Louisville Ky! I was so excited about it we meet on Friday mornings. We haven't had to bad of a turn out most times we have always had at least one other child most weeks it is between 3-5 kids the most we have had is 8 and that was the first play group. There are so many kids in this area with autism I was surprised that more parents wouldn't bring their children. But most are afraid that their chidren may hurt the other kids. I realize that can happen and most of the other parents know it also. I don't think anyone would get upset we are all in the same boat ya know! I know I sure wouldn't hold it against anyone. To me that is the whole reason why we are doing this to try and help teach the kids how to play with the other kids. As for Garrett he has had a very hard summer as far as sensory stuff. He is still singing his little songs and asking for things better. Spelling his name and saying his abc's. I have worked with him over the summer a little with his addition he is still doing okay with that! Still getting his chiro treatments though I have missed several but made up most of them. He loves his new pool he loves the water and playing outside in his not so little anymore bare feet. He craves sensory stuff so bad that we have stayed really busy with stuff like play dough and swimming, fingure painting, home made dough making, shaving cream, walking on his textured disc and ect. He seems to have needed more over the summer than normal but after talking to his teacher she said that they do a sensory diet every 20-30 minutes with most of the kids in school. (including Garrett) so I guess maybe it is normal for him but he seems to have had a little harder summer this year than last. I hope your kids are all doing great! I pray for them every night along with Garrett and he has a direct line to God! So just know tha tyou are always in our thoughts and prayers! You guys are the best!
