Hi Everyone!!!! My name is Stephanie my husband Gary and I have been married over 8 years happily married about half of that LoL (just jokeing! I love my husband and he loves me too).

I am the mother of a beautiful 7 year old boy whom has autism. He is the light of my life and has brought me more joy and tears than anyone or anything else I have ever known! Yeah, I know it sounds like every mother of a child with autism huh! LOL That is because our kids are the most special children in the world.

My boy is becoming more verbal all the time though he can not hold a conversation with me yet, that day is coming! I look forward to him being able to communicate with everyone around him and making lifelong friends. I love to watch him reach beyond what he was able to do last year and approach other children to play.

Like many or maybe even all of you my child is my hero. The struggles that he endures on a daily basis I can't even comprehend. The best thing is he does it all with that goregous smile on his sweet little face. I hurt when he hurts, I laugh when he laughs and I cry when he cries.(NOT IN FRONT OF HIM) However as a mother I know it is my job to be strong for him and I will as long as I live. (Even though we all have weak moments!) Because we are human!

My little boy is 8 years old he has some speech but no where near where he should be. I want to know if there are any parents on here with kids that have greatly recovered from autism? I have heard there are lots of vitamin therapies that we can use in large doses that can help? What about what anti fungal remedies what do I use? I have tried the gluten casein free thing Casein free helped alot . Can someone you guys give me other diet changes that could help or has the time come and gone in recovery hope? Help me please if you can. I am willing to try just about anything please. I will never give up hope to help my child even if the we have passed the time line. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated........... Even different foods that the kids like on these special diets. Every little tad of information you can give me please. Also if there is anything I can do to help his sensory needs I will tell you what we are doing right now.

Cod liver oil 
omega 3,6,9 with DHA
mood balance with DMG
Vitamin B Total Sublingual
Chinese herbal med's he is on:
Peaceful Focus
Bupleurum & Angelica
At night he has to take Melatonin to help him go to sleep and sleep throughout the night
He is going back into OT this school year took him out for the summer. (I needed a break) God forgive me!
Speech therapy 
he has had cranial sacrial therapy No help what so ever
Hippo therapy
OT SPEECH 
no ABA to this point though his tacher teaches at school with this technique
we have done anti fungals heavy metal detox we took him to an iridologist spelling?
Any more help you can give us or tell us where we are on the right track.

I  just wanted to let you guys know that Garrett is still doing well. Though without school he wants to play and jump on the trampoline all day whle being sprayed with the water hose ha ha ha! He is finally starting the "Oh Momma plz" stuff now when he doens't get his way. And I love it! I see him growing everyday. This last week I have started to let him play in the water hose 5 minutes at a time. After 5 minutes we take a five minute break from the water. 
So one day we had to go to the store and I told Garrett we would only be a few minutes. When we walked into the store Garrett looked at Gary and I and said "Hey 5 minutes Okay!" Gary and I thought we would die! We laughed so hard, but praised him for the way that he was learning to comprimise. It is funny the small things that we don't think much about they take in. So now when he wants to do something and I don't have time or just can't do it he always says mom 5 minutes plz.

You guys be praying for us. I finally did it jumped in with both feet and I am startiing the first autism play group in Louisville Ky! Our first play date is tomorrow morning at 10 am until noon. Garrett's teacher and his speech therapist are both coming and I am a little nervous about the whole thing. I have no ideal what I am doing but I feel this is what God has led me to do so here I go. Our kids need friendships and it is so hard for them to find a so called typical child who doesn't shun them at least that is our experience. (because Garrett has obvious speech challenges I think it is just different for them and different often scares alot of kids)    so I had to find a way to help him make friends. I have such a love for our kids. If we see a need we need to do something about it. So I am trying, I just hope that it goes well PRAY FOR ME PLEASE!

Garrett started doing addition in school last six weeks and the teacher says he picked it up really quick. Actually within 2 days CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! I am so happy he is doing so well in school. He has even started asking for things in sentence form. Mommy I want cookie, cracker pizza popcorn drink ect. He also ask to take a bath! The other day we were driving down the road and he made a funny noise and I thought that he was hurt so I gasp for breath and turn to check him. He looked at me and said "What's the matter". You guys I am so thankful for everything he is doing..... He always says please now when he is asking for something. The best part is that he says these things on a regular basis now. Not just once and then you never hear it again. He is constantly wanting us to chase him and when he does he will say ready set go. He says OH MAN! I always want to share every word that he says but I know I am forgetting somethings that he has picked up lately but I guess I have listed enough.... I am so looking forward to him holding a conversation with us on a regular basis. He did seem like he was going to start doing that there for a week or so and then he stopped. But I still believe that he will one day I will never stop hoping and praying for that.

Every time that I share something on this site, I am sure that I won't get responses. I mean who could possibly care what I am going through, when you are all are going through just as much. I mean we all have our hands full don't we. And to my surprise every time I get responses from you. I am so thankful to have parents just like me to share with. To know that I have support from people means so much to me. I know it means just as much to many of you. I just wanted to thanks Shannon for starting this community for those of us who have less support and encouragement from family and/or friends. Not to say that I have no support at all, just no one who can understand like you guys do. You guys are all a God send to me. God Bless You for showing love and encouragement and just caring about me and my child whom you have never even met. You guys are my angels and don't even know it.

I went and picked up Garrett's shot records from the health department last week. What I saw on them infuriated me to say the least.
When Garrett was a baby and they had given him 6 shots in the same day. After that day I received a letter in the mail saying that they had left the serum out to long and they weren't sure if he received a good shot. Garrett needed to come back and get one of the shots again. So I went in and ask them if there could be any bad side affects and of course they said no. So I went ahead and let them give him a repeat of that shot and then they said since he was there he was due  a few more shots. I never felt good about giving him so many shots at once. But hesitantly agreed because I knew (I thought) that they wouldn't do anything to hurt my child.

Well last week when I went and got his shot records I went back over them and it says that Garrett received 4 repeat shots instead of one. He received the HBV-HIB, IPV, DTaP, Hib. I had no idea he was getting repeats of all those shots they just told me one shot which I wasn't thrilled about. But 4 repeats? I had no idea the repercussions that could come from allowing even one repeat. It's no wonder the poor little thing was stricken with autism in such a huge way.

Garrett has been sick for the last week or so though he rarely complains when he is sick. He is always so loving we are very lucky because of that. I can't imagine a life without his hugs and kisses. Tonight he seems to feel better. Just a few moments ago we were sitting here on the couch and I was having a conversation with him. He as normal I thought, half way listening. :U) When I finished telling him how lonely our life would be without him he put his little arm around me and one little hand on my face and looked into my eyes and whispered "Mommy, I Love You!" In that moment I realized just how lucky I am. My once Non-Verbal child comforting me and telling me how much he loved me back. The  Bible tells me that there is no greater gift than love. This has never rung more true with me than it has tonight. I am the luckiest mommy alive! 
This week he has told his dad well let me say it as he did Oh My Godsh dad shew wee! So basically he told his dad he stinks and me he loves me! He has told me he loves me before but usualy I tell him first tonight he has told me on his own 2 or three times now twice since I have been typing this! Isn't that awesome! Two nights ago Garrett came into the bathroom while I was brushing my hair and said Mommy Take a bath I replied no not tonight reluctantly,(when he uses words I usually give in big time) then he said bye bye I said no buddy not tonight maybe tomorrow which he replied Oh Come On Take A Bath! That is awesome that is the longest conversation I have probably ever had with him as far as his replies back to me! I just started him on the Vitamin B Complex drops the day before I wondered if that is what is causing this change he seems to be improving by the day. I will keep you guys updated Keep Praying for us if you think of it I always pray for everyone on this site so know that you are always in our prays!
