Hi, I am new to autism and am on a journey to help my son be the best version of himself.
My name is Melissa and I am 33 and married to a wonderful and supportive man named Kevin. I have a step son Taylor who is 8 and a little boy Will who is 22 months old and has Autism. Will is in the inital stages with Babies Can't Wait. He has started Speech therapy and will start Occupational therapy soon. We have started with our DAN! Dr. Sloan and are starting GF/CF and some supplements.
Right now Will has 1-2 words depending on the day. He has some sensory issues (Tactile, Vestibular, proprioceptive, and taste). He has temper tantrams, doesn't sleep, and loves to bang his head. But he is the greatest little boy. He is great at figuring out how to turn things on and off, getting into the smallest places, and making you laugh! He has such a sweet heart!
I am trying to learn as much as possible to not lose precious time!
I try not to focus on the cause of his Autism but I like the saying.... Genetics don't cause Epidemics.

I love my pediatrician, she is great, but... she is part of a group like most and they have a policy. If you don't follow the AAP vaccine schedule then they can not be your doctor. They also just added to their website a letter from the AAP stating that vaccines are good, etc, etc. With links to the CDC and The AAP websites as great information on vaccines.
To me, if I were a pediatrician today where there is a chance that the cdc and the aap were wrong, I would at least give parents the opportunity to spread out the vaccines (what would it hurt?) or even have their childs immune system checked before vaccinations. I am new to all of this and I am still learning but if I can have some small understanding of how they could possibly be causing harm how can educated healtcare people ignore it? I am sad to loose my pediatrician but I don't feel right going to them anymore? Am I being silly or too sensitive?

I faced a similar issue with my doc. I kept him though after I told him I would sign a letter releasing him from liability of not vaccinating my son for >>> and that he informed me of the ramifications of not vaccinating. It made him comfortable...Just a thought!

I personally hate this! This is America, isn't it? Land of the free? BULL!!!! Who are other people to mandate what we can and cannot put into our children's bodies!? Besides dangerous stuff. Shouldn't we be protected by stuff like this? Ugh! I have a big prob since he is starting kindergarten. They are expecting four more by the fall and having seizures?!

I guess your ped's office didn't see the new "party line" from the CDC that the schedule is a 'recommendation' not a 'requirement' and all parents should discuss any concerns they have in regard to timing etc with their child's doctor. I wish I could find the link for you - but it was a CDC quote right around the time of Hannah Poling coming to light.

Frogfoot advice is what I was thinking too. I wish you the best. Hope you find someone you and Will like!

Follow your insticts. Personally, I think it is insane even if there was not medical concerns. We live in USA don't we? I think more peds are going to use their power of refusing service as more resistance grows.

No you are not silly you are listening to your Motherly instincts. Please continue to do so. I hope you find a caring and understanding pediatrician. I have not come up against this yet but fear I will when my son is due for his next round of vaccines. I am not doing anymore and have filed a religious exemption but my ped. should understand even under the medical exemption as my child has encephalopathy which is contraindicated in most vaccines and it was vaccine induced. Try finding one that has a D.O. as they are usually more into alternative medicine and homeopathy. Good luck.
