Hi, I am new to autism and am on a journey to help my son be the best version of himself.

My name is Melissa and I am 33 and married to a wonderful and supportive man named Kevin.  I have a step son  Taylor who is 8 and a little boy Will who is 22 months old and has Autism.    Will is in the inital stages with Babies Can't Wait.  He has started Speech therapy and will start Occupational therapy soon.  We have started with our DAN! Dr. Sloan and are starting GF/CF  and some supplements.

Right now Will has 1-2 words depending on the day.  He has some sensory issues (Tactile, Vestibular, proprioceptive, and taste).  He has temper tantrams, doesn't sleep, and loves to bang his head.  But he is the greatest little boy.  He is great at figuring out how to turn things on and off, getting into the smallest places, and making you laugh!  He has such a sweet heart!

I am trying to learn as much as possible to not lose precious time!

I try not to focus on the cause of his Autism but I like the saying.... Genetics don't cause Epidemics.

I don't know about McCain but Sarah Palin has my vote..... My brother lives in AK and she has a 97% approval rating! Here are remarks about special needs children from Palin last night at the RNC....."And in April, my husband Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. From the inside, no family ever seems typical.

That's how it is with us.

Our family has the same ups and downs as any other ... the same challenges and the same joys.

Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge.

And children with special needs inspire a special love.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.

I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House. Todd is a story all by himself. "

Wow Diane!!! I think something else to think about here....is that we have had a republican president and a democratic congress for the last 4 years too....and Nothing has Changed. The way I see it, Both Parties have failed our country. Have to admit...I'm still sitting on the fence...but leaning more to the Right at the moment.

You know everyone has great things to say about what they will do, but the only way we will find out is once she is in office...But I do know that Obama just kept going in circles and never answered the question brought up to him about autism and special needs...Now I would love to move to Arizona where the autism Tx's are covered for all families I am told...Yea we are all in trouble financially, but it is due to the people in government who will send millions to help the people in other countries, but can't see the suffering in their own front yard...because what was hidden in the back yards has now over flowed to the front...you can't just turn your heads anymore, there are just as many american children and families suffering here as anywhere else, only the suffering is different and the severilty is different too, but it is stil here...so only time will tell...I have always voted democrate, but I said once obama was placed on the ballot, would be voting for Mc Cain, now he has my vote for sure...People keep saying they have never heard of Palin, well I had never heard of obama till they said he was running against Hillary.

I have been reading not such great things about her. But I thought her speech was great. Instead of just telling us she will be our advocate I would like to know in what way she plans on helping the special needs population.

Sarah Palin does seem like she has character. And, Lisa, no you're not the only swing voter... I really want to get this country into a healthy economy again, this economy surely isn't healthy now.

It is really scary this year....and I do agree...we are in deep trouble. I'm not a Jo Leiberman Fan...by No means...but I do believe that he has the right thoughts...in that we all need each other...and need to reach accross party lines for the greater good of the people. United we stand...Divided we Fall. My father is a devout Democrat....My husband is a devout Republican...LOL...and I'm stuck in the Middle. There are some things I agree with for both parties and some things that I dont. And I think I'm probably not the only Swing Voter out there.

I think she is a great lady. I don't know much about her. I believe that the United States is in a crisis. Our gas prices are ridiculous, our housing industry is at an all time high for foreclosures, people are losing their jobs at an alarming rate, this country is in trouble. I cannot help but think that in the last 8 years with a Republican leadership .. this is the result. Bush has left a terrible mess. Middle America is sufferring. The middle class is a scarce population. In our community there is rich and poor. There is at least 3 houses on our block that are foreclosed. One that has been on the market for 3 yrs. @ $1.4 mil. My husband and I are employed by our Union and thanks to the wonderful benefits and salary, we're able to rear our children in comfort. We are not the norm. I've never felt that the Republican party was for the middle class. I am for the middle class. I wish Sarah Palin all the success in the world where her son is concerned, I hope she continues to strive for children with special needs, from what I've seen .. I believe she will.
