octoberustica's Bio

My name is Lorraine, but most people call me Lors, I am a 34yr old single mother to a wonderful little boy called Alasdair, he is my only child and very special to me.

Alasdair has just turned 11yrs old now and quite the character :) he has Autism and Hyperacusis which can make life challenging for him at times, but it certainly keeps mum on her toes anyway he he.

I am originally from a small seaside town called Montrose, a quaint wee place that hugs the North East coast.

Accross the river from Montrose lyes a petite fishing village called Ferryden, this darling village is where I grew up and spent my wonderful childhood.

I now live further a field in West Lothian because my sons father got a job down this neck of the woods, so we opted for a move back in 1997.

However my then husband and I parted company (separated) around 2 yrs ago and Alasdair and I moved to Leyden Farm, on a sweet little dairy farm in the heart of West Lothian, we do well but it has been quite a rollercoaster ride to get here.

As for my interests, well that could be a list, he he how long is a piece of string! :)

I am a witch, I believe in love, nature and magick.

I have a strong passion for Scottish history, and I write ALOT! mainly childrens stories, but I also write a magazine which is currently being put together right now, and is gradually taking shape.

To give you an idea of things that i am interested in I shall run you through some of my book collection, that should give you guys all an idea.

I  also write childrens stories, I have a big old collection of them now too, I am hoping one day to have some of them published, especially one in particular as both myself and Alasdair made it up together.

If anyone would like to read any of my work please feel free to ask, and I will happily share.

Brightest blessings

Handicapped: Inconvenienced, not disabled

by Lors Robinson-Moseley.

My son was diagnosed at aged 17 months with a severe form of Autism, his life became complicated from that moment on, not just because he had his particular needs, but because society began to judge him, stare at him, ridicule him and point the finger at him, especially when he vocalized as he did then, with little squeals and chirps that only people who took the time to understand, found out that in fact they all actually meant something, not only to him, but to those loved ones around him, who were trying to help him communicate.

One of the reasons I have started to write children's books, is to try and teach children about disability, and to illustrate each story in bright colorful pictures so they pull the reader in, pull them in to the story, so that they can see and hear and feel, the main character's emotions as he or she go about there everyday lives within the story.

I use animals and insects mainly within my stories, to make it easier for the children to focus, education is so important, if kids are not taught about disability and learning difficulties as they are growing up and learning themselves, how are they to be expected to react wen they see or see something different, kids are kids they just react, if kids eyes are open to disability in a very realistic but child friendly manner they will not react as many kids seem to do these days when confronted with disability in there lives, be it in school at home wherever, it will just be the people they see and not there disabilities, which is the whole point, what kids learn they take on board and it stays inside there head and there hearts.
