My name is Karah and I am the mother of Jameson. Jameson is now 2 and was diagnosed PDD-NOS at 19 months of age. He has OT once a week, a behavioral interventionist four times a week, and we have finally gotten a speech therapist in once week. We also have an educational consultant come in once a month to see his progress with the ABA and PECS.
Jameson is what I would consider non-verbal at this time. He uses a lot of signs and now he is adding the beginning sounds to the words that go with the sign---ex "mmm" or "mmmooo" when he signs "more" He knows a lot of letter sounds and has a couple words - mom, dad, up, no. He has more animal sounds though for sheep, cow, bird, elephant, frog, horse, pig, and my favorite, monkey. He will even sing songs and do the gestures for the songs as he sings them using different tones in the right areas. He also uses PECS to communicate. We have said from the get go that of course we would love for him to talk but we feel as a family that we want more and probably need more for him to be able to communicate his needs and wants to us. So I do not really care which format it is in. He is consistent with his signs, his words or sounds, and it is very easy for him to bring me a picture of what he wants (milk, snack, etc.) or something that he wants to play with that is not within his reach.
We have finally begun the process of getting Jameson a DAN doctor and he will be going to see him in August. Jameson has very bad gi issues and the regular GI specialist we went to told us that his stools are normal for a toddler (I had taken a photo of one of his diapers) That made me pretty mad--and Jameson was diagnosed with diarrhea--isn't that a symptom, not a diagnosis? Anyway, we are really hoping to help him through biomedical interventions and are hoping to implement the gf/cf diet very soon!.
Jameson was born in Seattle where my husband and I lived for 9 years. We moved to NH when Jameson was 10 months old. Jameson is our only child at this time. We have not decided whether we will have more children as of yet.
I enjoy photography, traveling, reading, and spending time with my husband and father of Jameson, Dustin.
I look forward to getting to know other families through this wonderful online community.

This is Jameson just a couple weeks ago at 2 yrs , 3 months. I honestly never thought he was going to get the concept of using a utensil to eat. I am so proud of him. He still tries to use his fingers a lot but is using the fork more and more.

Way to go Jameson. That is really good. Mine is almost four and just now starting to Get it. He would rather stim with the utensils than use them to eat, lol.
