Hi all! I am a mother to a almost 5 year old son (Caleb) with autism and a 2.5 year old daughter (Kelsey) with Asperger's. I also have many characteristics in common with the kids which makes dealing twice as hard for me-sensitive hearing, sensory, ADD, and a little auditory processing. I am married to Dennis and we keep our hands full keeping up with the two of them.

After seeing someone's home on CNN yesterday gave me an idea. How does your home look to others? My home is always dirty. Not two minutes after I clean something, they have diritied it up again. There are juice stains all over my floor. Maybe even poo, puke, and urine stains on my carpets as well. Last night my son smeared his poo on his window which took awhile to find and so it hardened on there. There are blankets, bean bags, and toys scattered everywhere. Stuff can travel all by themselves from room to room. I cannot walk anywhere without stepping on something. The kitchen floor is always sticky. My son may have peed on the seat of the toilet so beware before you sit! WHat about you?

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have trouble vacuuming because Ruby hates the vacuum and since I am always home with the kids, I can never vacuum. Things are always all over the place and like you I am always stepping on things. I get embarrassed, but there is no way I'm going to constantly pick things up, I give up!

I am with you all its a losing battle. It never ends and never will llol. I think i have just learned to not worry about it all week...tidy everyday but clean once a week. A clean house that is pefect must be really boring! We have action and lots of it lol.

Okay. I guess I'm in good company. My house is never "clean." The best I can do is "less dirty."

Last night Liv found her baby powder... It was all over herself & room. I mean everwhere. When I was cleaning it up. She managed to go to the kitchen. Pry the lid off my expensive coffee (few luxury I have) & dump it everywhere. Apparently, that was not enough she had to add the sugar to the coffee grinds everywhere. Well, I guess until now she did not have the strength to pull off the lids that must be the silver lining.

Our house is a mess but as my G-aunt says it is an orderly mess...I still haven't figured that one out...I love her though I sometimes don't understand her anymore.

OMG...im not crazy! It's refreshing to know that I am not the only one with a messy house. I will admit, I am no suzy homemaker to begin with, but I struggle with the same type of comments from people. My house is never the way it "should" be. My television, windows, any shiny surfaces are always covered with my sons fingerprints. I pretty much have given up on the windex and papertowels. My floors never stay clean, food, shredded paper etc. All of my walls are now bare, can't keep pictures or photographs on them or my son will swing them back and forth until they fall. I dont think anyone without a child like mine can really appreciate the effort it takes to keep up with it all. I feel that if i can keep up with the laundry, appointments, preparing meals, and having my kids clean and healthy, im doing a pretty good job. Sure, I would love to have all the pretty little things about my house, and have things cleaner and more organized. But its not the end of my world that it isnt that way, at least for now.

My son has OCD so he has always liked everything in its place.....He went through phases where he was constantly making sure the area rugs were straight and doors were either closed or open....The messy parts of my house are all the things my son touches with his sticky fingers: door knobs, windows, cabinets, chairs, tables etc...Several times a day I have to wipe things down throughout the house....

It drives me crazy but there is not point, If I try to clean up he is right behind me putting the mess back where he wants it, LOL! There is a method to his messiness. Luckily we have a dog to clean up spills and such, his name is Roscoe but we call him NuNu after the Teletubbies vaccuming friend!
