Hi all! I am a mother to a almost 5 year old son (Caleb) with autism and a 2.5 year old daughter (Kelsey) with Asperger's. I also have many characteristics in common with the kids which makes dealing twice as hard for me-sensitive hearing, sensory, ADD, and a little auditory processing. I am married to Dennis and we keep our hands full keeping up with the two of them.

My boy is now officially 5 this week. He had his party this weekend. Only 2 Nts in attendance, the rest ASD. Our trampoline was a big hit. My son, daughter, and my other boy (my best friend's son who is with us always) were all over stimulated. My son had about four seizures that I know of that day (wonderful). (I think I only saw one today. Doctor will be called first thing tomorrow.) After awhile my daughter and friend's son joined the others. They all had a good time. The little ones really didn't get that a birthday is person specific. They all wanted presents like it was Christmas! It was so cute and funny! When it was time for cake, all the ASD kids were reaching for the cake and my son was still on the swing. My friend's son went and got him by the hand (which is really sweet because they mostly fight like bros) to blow out the candles in which they all helped. Lots of hands reaching for cake all at once. I couldn't cut fast enough. Then my son went back to the swing. Then they all decided he needed to open his gifts. SO they got him and they all opened the gifts together! It was eventful! I think it went well. Considering how many ASD kids there were, there were no major tantrums. I will post my pics closer to the end of the week or sooner if I get a moment. I wish you all live around here so we could all have a good time together.

Sounds like you had a great party, even though your son had seizures. The trampoline and the swings were perfect for the ASD kids, I'm glad you have them. I hope the seizures stop soon. I hope the doctor finds them easy to control. Good luck.
