slhh130's Bio

Hi all! I am a mother to a 5 year old Caleb with autism and a 3 year old Kelsey with Asperger's. He is in kindergarten and she is in pre-school. I also have many characteristics in common with the kids which makes dealing twice as hard for me-sensitive hearing, sensory, ADD, and a little auditory processing.  I am married to Dennis and we keep our hands full keeping up with the two of them.

Off topic-house renovations
by slhh130 on 05.18.08 - public - 88 visits

I thought he could use a topic to get our minds off the kiddos. We are fixing up our house. We will be painting, and putting in laminate wood floors. (My kids destroyed the carpet here in a year's time.) We already put in new light fixtures. My husband is finishing putting on a storm door and new shutters right now. We changed my son's room from sports to Mickey Mouse. (We made his room sports when he was 16 months now aware that he was going to have major motor delays and no interest in competitive sports. We are busy. How about you? Any new projects? Landscaping?

clorine isn't good, or healthy...see if you can use salt in you H.T. we have a salt water pool for Julian, we are taking out toxins...we don't need more...the sun helps the salt to make natural clorine...

Okay, don't hate me but we hung out in the hot tube. LOL wicked nice!!! I bought it to get back at my husband as he came home with a 4 wheeler a few weeks ago and didn't include me in the purchase. So last week I told him I was going food shopping and bought a hot tube. We can't get our son out of it. That's okay as he is so adverse to taking a bath or shower. So a little clorine never hurt anyone. So we were 4 wheeling and came home to sit in the hot tube. Or as my son calls it the deck pool.

Dude! We are all about keeping it clean! We have the low VOC paints (no VOC is just not in the budget), organic fertilizer still waiting to be put on, and I plan on putting in the LED lights when we run out of regular. I do not want to waste them. I am trying to buy the organic and green products as much as I can. I have a huge pile of recycling to take to the center. I just gotta do better with the diet and exercise for that matter. Don't worry I am sure not one of us is happy with our bodies right now. I love flowers! Since I spending a lot of time on indoor renovations, I most likely will not get to the flowers I want. Please enjoy yours for me.

Don't forget they have a lot of new chem low products on the market now for home improvement. Like falmaydehyde (sp) free insulation; safer paints, flooring etc. Go green & keep it clean :)

I have several projects. I am renovating a 1955 vintage camper... I am trying to figure out the enigma of women. Gardening. And, getting my bod to a respectable format. I will also be reading a bunch of self improvement books. Yeah right ;)

I just finished a 2000 pc puzzle! Other than that, we spent today searching for and splicing a severed wire in the dog fence, planting the beginning of my organic potted garden, answering 100 questions about Amtrak sleeper cars after seeing one at the dog park, cleaning our dog after the dog park, doing oodles of laundry neglected over the busy week and dreaming about fitting in to last year's shorts! We need to get our windows replaced this summer, so I've decided it is a waste of time to keep them clean... one less job to do!

Oh, my, yes. We spent today doing major work on the house. We had to rip out a bathroom that had major water damage, that's nearly done. We put up LED lights in the kitchen and spent the rest of the day cleaning and gardening. We grow food and flowers, too, so this is the time of year when I spend most of the day outside.

Yes, seems like something always needs repairing....We're going to replace some doors this summer-in hopes of keeping more heat inside next winter! We just painted our bedroom and nice blue-gray and the bathroom is next. Paint, fortunately is cheap, and can make everything else in the room look better. My daughter wants to paint her walls pink and them stamp dog paws all over them in brown paint. She loves her shih-tzu and wants her room to reflect that passion.

I never seen to stop fixing something in our house. John wants his room redone in race cars..I just don't want to tackle it..it's sports now and I told him when he picked that out..it would be there all his teen years..but he has other ideas. Out side..I grow flowers and food and that keeps me very busy. We use raised beds, hanging baskets, huge pots to raise vegetable in and John and I have been working on that a grea deal lately. My goal is to have a house that does not need something fixed and a yard that grows and cares for it's self...but I kind of never see that happening...
